One MIDI Channel per instrument--- two instruments split amongst 16 pad controller.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJT76PcXEVk&feature=youtu.be

Using the "One MIDI Channel per Instrument" option in Caustic, in combination with a hardware midi Pad controller that allows assigning MiDI channels to each pad allows the ability to split the pads into multiple Caustic machines.
in this video I set up the bottom 8 pads to play Beatbox note numbers on MIDI Channel one, and Dminor(ish) scale on the top eight pads on MIDI channel two.
Caustic's ability to swap the order of machines makes it for a great way to "jam."

Edit: The purpose was to come up with a workflow for "live" improv/jamming with other people, I.e. An electronic drum circle of sorts.

Hi, please advise: what

Hi, please advise: what feature of midi controller is this that allows to assign each and every pad or button on the controller a midi signal from Caustic? I heard with some controllers you can set midi chanells from them. How does this look like on the controller, what is to look for in the manual?

Thanx a lot!

I have a nearly 10 year old

I have a nearly 10 year old Akai MPD 24 lying around. I am able to assign the Midi channel on each pad using the hardware buttons/knobs/LCD screen (i.e. Independent of whatever software I was using). I deleted the video because I figured newer controllers with pads and keys combined would do the same only with better implementation (playing a beat on pads with one hand and playing synths on the keys with the other hand), but now this is the second person to ask about it.
