no Caustic audio out on Windows 10

i couldn't find a previous thread about this, so sorry if it's been answered before..

i'm having issues with external audio out from caustic on my PC. it works fine on my iphone and ipad but i'm getting nothing thru the PC. audio plays normally thru the built in speakers but not my headphones or external speakers. I'm running Windows 10 on a Microsoft Surface Studio.

thanks!

This is a simple question but

This is a simple question but that's where you always should start. Does external audio work for other apps/programs on your Surface?

I just tried my latest build with the Windows 10 updates from yesterday.  I am not having any problem with audio output to speakers or headphones.

Is your CONFIG file placed in

Is your CONFIG file placed in the DATA directory of Caustic properly?  Have you editied it as a FILE and not an .rtf or .txt file?  Open it in notepad to see if there are funky characters in the config.  Does ASIO4ALL launch when you start Caustic?

Config layout should look like:

B ALLOW_SCREEN_ROTATION TRUE
I KEYBOARD_KEYSIZE_PORTRAIT 1
I KEYBOARD_KEYSIZE_LANDSCAPE 1
I PIANOROLL_KEYSIZE_PORTRAIT 1
I PIANOROLL_KEYSIZE_LANDSCAPE 2
B WHATS_NEW_320 FALSE
S SOUND_DRIVER ASIO
I INTERNAL_LATENCY 0
I MIDI_CHANNEL_MAPPING 1
I MIDI_INPUT_DRIVER 0

Also see these threads for troubleshooting reference:

I have a backup of a working config so if you want you could grab it off the cloud links provided in the other thread, it's drag-and-drop so no mucking around necessary.  Sometimes even if the config appears to have taken as a proper extensionless text file it can still act strange between the program and Windows (reason is that the FILE is modified by system or program so it effectively corrupts it).

There are other driver modes you could try but ASIO4ALL is about the best you can do for this program.
