Caustic won't start

Neither caustic nor the mastering app is opening for me. When I attempt to open either app, I get the "Caustic.exe has stopped working" message. I am using a laptop running Windows 10. I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing that belongs with the bug reports, so I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong place.

Windows versions are not

Windows versions are not supported, given that the download has not changed in quite some time I would suggest that something has changed with your set up, not the other way round.

What do you mean, "Windows

What do you mean, "Windows versions are not supported?" Are you saying the Windows version is a port of the mobile version or something? What ramifications does that have for me? It hasn't worked since the Windows update immediately after the ransomware attack.

Windows versions are not

Windows versions are not supported, as per the description next to the download "Desktop versions. Free, full version, but no support.", if they don't work on your system, they don't work on your system and that's pretty much the end of it.

The windows version is the debug version used for the app development, it's supplied as is.

I want to fill in that since

I want to fill in that since being forced to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 to not miss out any bug fixes for Microsoft's bad work of making a solid operating system, I've stumbled across a non working Caustic 3 application for my desktop computer too :(.. It makes me sad since I love using it on my desktop as well.

It seems like the sound engine works since the demo song plays when starting it for the first time, but there's seems to be some issues with the graphic interface since the window stays transparent. I've tried all sorts of backward compatibility functions, completely wiping it and reinstalling it, plus starting it as administrator without no good :(..

I do know that the desktop versions are not supported, but it makes me sad. I've often used it to record show'n'tell and tutorial videos with the desktop version.. Guess I'll have to go back and find some way to screen record on Android again..

If anyone here has been getting the same issues and managed to solve it, I would be really happy if the solution was shared here :)

I use Win 10 without problems

I use Win 10 without problems but I havn't updated windows since I installed it :) Did Caustic ever work for you on win 10 d vibe?

What graphics card do you use? I am using Geforce GTX, if it's a UI thing it may be an opengl issue.

Mike: No, Caustic ran perfect

Mike: No, Caustic ran perfect on Win 7, but after upgrading to Win 10, no dice :(

OpenGL might actually be the reason; the graphics card I have is old (Nvidia Geforce 7800 gt), and I had some problems with the drivers when upgrading to Win10. It didn't adapt by it self, so I had to reinstall the drivers and I only found versions for Win 7, and possibly Win 8 (don't remember).

At least now I know that it's possible to run Caustic 3.2 on Win 10 :)

I will see if I can find some better drivers to see if it solves the problem. Thanks :)

Yeah it definitely works on

Yeah it definitely works on Win10, it's just the setup is a lot more finiky. I am using a couple GTX 1080s and so far so good, but like I said I am finishing an app for Caustic and I have been reading peoples problems about Win10, so I have intentionally not upgraded the OS the past 2 months to make sure a new update does not screw it up. :) Sounds funny but I do not want to go back to my slow Win7 computer.

I know this is a stupid

I know this is a stupid question but have you tried the stand alone? I am running Caustic on Win10 right from a folder on the Desktop.

Mike: Nope, I've only tried

Mike: Nope, I've only tried the installed version, so it's not a stupid question. Will try the stand alone! Thanks for the tip! :)

It's the same problem. But I

It's the same problem. But I discovered now that it's indeed a problem with OpenGL, since I tried another application that opens a OpenGL window, and that resulted in exactly the same issue..

Now I know what to troubleshoot, thanks Mike :)
