Never used midi before. Recommendations for cables?

From my understanding, to connect my keyboard to my android I need a midi to usb cable, and a usb otg cable.

What are some good cables to buy, I want to just go for the cheapest on amazon but I'm wondering if getting cheap cables would cause latency.

The quality of a cable is

The quality of a cable is really how well it does with wear and tear. It's digital so it'll work or it won't, there's no in-between.

Something to consider though is if the controller you are plugging in needs to be powered if so, you may want to consider a powered otg hub as this will power the controller rather than your phone or tablet.

Ok thanks.

Ok thanks.

Power isn't an issue since I'm just using a regular 88 key keyboard with a midi output.

Do you use caustic on an android device? I remember in 2014 the latency on android devices was bad, is this still the case?

If your keyboard has just old

If your keyboard has just old style midi out then you'll need one of these

Which you then connect to your usb otg adaptor.

If the midi out is USB already then just plug into your usb otg adaptor.

Get a powered OTG cable

Get a powered OTG cable anyway. It'll work whether you plug it into the mains or not, and you never know when it might come in handy. My powered one cost me less than my unpowered one.
