Improvised electronica - Velocity

While I'm hanging out in the forum, here's one more. This was created and performed live using Caustic. I used the mixer to turn on and off various tracks throughout the song, and modified the tracks live by going into each instrument and choosing different parts. Wish I had a copy of "Caustic Remix" to do this en banc, but we work with what we've got, right?

Please let me know what you think. You can hear more of my live improvised electronica on Soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/user-284057540)

Thanks!

Very very cool! How were you

Very very cool! How were you able to continue improving without constraint from the "1,2,4,8 bars" option when creating a track?

Hi Sam,

Hi Sam,

Thanks for checking out these tunes. When I'm doing improv I stay in "Pattern" mode the whole time. This means that whatever patterns are playing just repeat indefinitely until I mute them with the mixer. So that's how I set up the main rhythm and bass patterns. Then I mute and unmute the various channels to turn off and on the other instruments. For the solos themselves I go into the pattern editor for the solo instrument and pick different patterns to create melodic variation as the pattern repeats. I don't always play each pattern all the way through, but switch patterns in the middle to create additional variation.

The main bummer is that I can't switch an instrument pattern and a bass line at exactly the same time. So the only way I can make a key change, for example, is to mute all the melodic instruments except one, then change the pattern on that one, and then go to the other instruments and change those and unmute them.

Probably TMI...  ;)
