Hello again. I have a considerable queue of music to release, so I'm gonna be quite annoying on this forum (although maybe not enough to win the most annoying award...) in the coming weeks. I hope you'll bear with me.
Today's track is not particularly interesting in itself, bread & butter drum & bass, with some tentative redeeming qualities. But, it does have a bit of backstory.
The filename for it in my Caustic folder is 3x303, and my idea was: What if I set up 3 basslines, with similar but different settings, controlled by a single modular, and automate the controls of each one independently? That should be three times more acid than a 303!
And boy, was I wrong :-)
The result doesn't actually sound at all bad, but it's more akin to a lush, silky, expensive 3-oscillators synth, with a somewhat 'funkier than thou' attitude, than a glorious acid machine. So, as often happens, I just went with the flow and let the track evolve into something different than what I had in mind.
I guess this teaches us a valuable lesson: adding more of something doesn't always work, quite the opposite. You risk losing, or watering down, the character that you wanted to enhance.
Alright, that's really enough of me blabbering for today. As usual, enjoy the music.
