'A Short Battle'

Caustic Song file (optional):

A bit of a departure, still very electronic but slow and slighty pseudo epic in feel. Drums are more rock in tempo/feel than my normal 4 to the floor techno beats.

It kinda reminds me of video game music but it's really short...so it's called 'A Short Battle' cheeky

Back up to 7 racks - PCM Synth, Beatbox, Bassline, Padsynth, 8 Bit (as lead), Modular, FM Synth.

Partly recorded with my keyboard and some ideas sketched out using the keyboard.

thanks

thanks smiley

It was really born out of playing around with the keyboard again, I thought it was interesting enough to stretch out a little and finish.

Thanks Jason and Wardini, It was the stabby sound with the 8bit that made me think of battles laugh, I'm not sure  if I'll go back and extend it though, more likely to start a fresh tune or carry on with some more works in progress.

I decided during Alpha to share the caustic files, was really pleased when Mike made it so much easier, I do this for fun and love poking around in other people's song files as it helps me learn.

At this rate I'll be writing an ep every week surprise

I'm tempted to delete any C2

cheeky

I'm tempted to delete any C2 era fragments and start with a clean slate. I seem to have a lot of new ideas buzzing around at the moment, not sure I need old ones too.

It's funny, before C3 everyone wanted more racks, now I've got them I rarely go over 7 laugh

I am experimenting more with writing to a theme or aim while I explore the app - so I'll write something with hip hop beats or try and create a one rack track...that means that the music is just as much about the journey as it is the finished tune...it's an interesting way to explore things smiley

nice track,.. love the 8bit

nice track,.. love the 8bit synth part,..i have a hard time trying to fit the 8bit into my tracks...so ive been avoiding it...i dont understand how to create any sounds in it...i dont understand how to even edit the equations to change the sounds into something musical.

i was thinking about doing the same thing,  delete all my old version 2 bits and start new...i think im going to wait till the official release of Caustic3 though,...right now its all experimental.

The 8bit doesn't sit that

The 8bit doesn't sit that comfortably with either of our styles (imo), you tend to go for quite lush sounds and the 8bit is really abrasive. I guess that's why I decided to write something around it, really took me in a different direction, musically and rhythmically.

I have no idea about the formulas behind it, I'm kinda looking forward to Jason releasing some content packs to cover that off blush
