CHECK OUT THE VIDEO I MADE FOR IT AT:
Hey y'all
It's only bloody well me again. I had to do another profile cos I can't remember my old passes.
This is nowhere near done yet but I wanted to gauge opinion on it. I still need to think up a fitting perc to go with the drums and I wanna vary the baselines a bit through the main drop. This'll be my third foray into dnb and this one's more like the poppy dnb about.
I need some input as to if I'm on the right track or whether I should switch focus. So whatever u think, I'd really appreciate the feedback after being out of the game for over half a year. I'm actually a bit stuck as to which direction to take it in, so if anyone's up for a collaboration I'd be up for that. I know I don't wanna stray too much from where it's at atm. Any ideas????
Also, if anyone's got any nice one hit drums samples, can I please have them, as I'm struggling to get my selection back up to scratch.
Hope u like what I got so far.
Hey, welcome back! I think you are definitely on the right track. Got a couple ideas, use short note/chord hits on 2 and 4 (with the snare) for a section to create new feel. Create a half-time break/bridge, meaning half the speed, half notes instead of quarters perhaps with no percussion at all, maybe using vocal snips with fx. This is just something that breaks up the rapid pace you have going and then accentuates it when build back to full speed. Warning, these are just the ideas of an idle mind and are not professional by any standards :-). I think you have a good thing going here. Nice to see you.

Cheers dude. That's what I'm working on now, strangely enough. Turning it a bit dubby.
Alexei bourdan 2.0 haha like it, just popping in to say hi really, as far as this track goes, sounds on the right track I would say, yeah maybe a break as JH has suggested, but you know you normally deliver the goods, even if you are a bit out of practice ( though it doesn't sound like it too much ) that was a sod about your phone, but c'mon now that's done yeah, positive vibes to the fore...
oh I don't know about one hits but Mike posted up a pack of techno drums packs, though I think it was a couple of quid?

Cheers Wells. It's a lot like riding a bike; it's all in there, and I think it's mostly a lazy person having to re-learn the most important lesson; if you want the results, you gotta put the work in lol. The gutting thing about losing the phone is that I was working on a massive dubstep version of Ariana Grande's Into You, and had spent days on the vocals, altering the loop points and gliding parts so her voice was like an instrument. I was probably a day from finishing and posting when my phone got nicked! Barstards!! And now, the acapella has disappeared from the net. There's another official acapella, but there's too much reverb to effectively manipulate the vocals in the same way.
Bit by bit I'm getting my sample library back up, but I used to have an awesome orchestral drum soundfont with loads of toms, crashes and cymbals and hats, all crisp and clear. It was the largest file, storage wise, I had in the whole of caustic, and I used part of it in virtually every tune. But hey, I'm just glad to be back to playing again. Beats the crap outta the Metro cryptic lol
Sounds good! I wouldn't know how to progress on a track like this but so far it sounds good.
I'm TriggerHappy and I approve of this message. SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/triggerhappyproductions
Cheers dude. Actually taking it down the aforementioned dubstep path, then build up to the dnb thing again. All I had in my head was the main bit I posted. After that, I'm kinda wingin it lol
Hey Alexei, I haven't got any tips or pointers for you on where to take this, but just wanted to say definitely don't switch focus - this is sounding awesome and I genuinely can't wait to hear the finished track. Love that bassline!

Cheers dude. Funnily enough I took it down a dubstep route, but scrapped that last night to try and keep it in the dnb vein. Might be a while. Thanks for feedback cos you're production quality is off the scale man
Nice gritty baseline!!
This is sounding great keep going!

Awesome work on bending and chopping the vocals! This must have been a ton of work! Respect!

Cheers dude. It was bloody hard going but was one of those things that when I had the idea. I couldn't let it go. You can hear in some parts that the loop points ain't perfect but we're all still learning I think so next time it'll be better.

Excuse my language but this is f***ing Awesome!:p
I really enjoy that pitched vox glide!! XD
The mastering is superb,I can hear everythig breathing without choking..did you use the mastering app or other software?
This is your best so far!;)

Wow cheers dude. Your feedback carries a lot of weight with me so when it's positive as this its especially awesome. I did it all inside caustic, no mastering apps, just a lot of knob twiddling lol. If you were to see the GUI, very few knobs and faders don't have an orange or yellow border around them. There's stuff everywhere, bits in patterns, bits in song editor, slight nuances in velocity. It's messier than a 15 year old's bedroom floor lol. I usually, quite lazily, rest on my laurels once I've done a pattern, just copy/pasting to a later part of the tune with minimal variances in the effects, bit I kinda micro managed it this time cos I had a definite idea of how I wanted it to sound. The dub bit was total fluke where I pasted in the wrong drum pattern and got taken down a totally different road, but I think it works lol
My main struggle with dnb is exactly what you pointed out....letting it all breathe without fighting (sound, not noise as my sound engineering tutor used to say) so I'm chuffed it sounds ok to you.
