Hey guys,  I really appreciate the positive comments.

I wanted to point out that I did a demo version of the song months ago that was only done with Caustic so you can check that out on Soundcloud if you are curious.

I did not export midi from Caustic on this one but exported the wav files for each instrument and imported them into Reason.  It was sequenced both in Caustic and Reason and the bass, guitar and P6 lead were added in Reason.

I am enjoying using Caustic to sketch songs out and then either exporting midi and/or wav, importing that into Reason and trying to finish the tracks.

I am really looking forward to Caustic 3.  The more "on the go" and "in bed" music production I can do, the better.

So stoked about the ability to add more machines.

I think I own a couple Pink Floyd vinyl albums when they were more of a Psychedlic band with Sid.  I do like the production work Alan Parsons did on the DSOTM and think Gilmour is a great blues guitarist.  I sort of felt the guitar on Mekanism had a Robbie Blunt vibe going on with it.  

I backed the strat guitar sections on the verse with some humbucker and a little gain to thicken it up and try and let it sit in the mix more like a rhythm guitar and let the (strat only) cleaner chorus tone shine a bit more in contrast.

For the guitar effects I used a pretty wet signal from the delay and some ducking with a longer feedback so the repeats were not as apparent but the notes would sound full and spread out and added a wet reverb effect to the clean guitar strums on the chorus to for the long smeary tremolo trails.

I was also playing around with the vocoder in Reason and came up with a sound that reminded me of creepy GLaDOS in Portal and added that on the long fade out ending.

Cool to hear the song clicked with someone.

Yeah I am a huge fan of late seventies to early eighties sci-fi.  Was considering using some Logan's Run or THX 1138 footage.

If you are a guitar gear guy, check out the work I did to the guitar and amp.  I have it posted on my youtube as well.  I spent over a month modifying my cheap gear to make it sound as good as possible prior to recording.  I have photos and sound tests on there.  It made all the difference.

I think the width you are describing is the mixed signal wet/dry reverb.

I am using a software reverb module to acheive the same result.  I saw these vids with huge ambient reverb and then took my guitar track that was recorded with tape delay, tube preamp and slight compression and laid it in a deep pool of wet reverb.

I can get a very similar result to these pedals but I think I am going to need to get one at some point.

I also think paritally why that ambient wet reverb effect works so well with electronic music is because the long reverb trails actually sound like a synth.
