'Dark and Grooving'

Caustic Song file (optional):

New C3 RC3 tune - it was born out of an attempt to create a tune using new EIP presets only...this isn't that tune but I pulled out the rhythm track using the Flange kit and started this for fun.

4 racks - 2 BB's, FM and Modular.

No pattern automation but some song automation - fades, mod filtering etc

The mix has a subtle phaser throughout as an insert effect in the mastering section - gives it some depth and movement.

Back to basics club techno - rhythm and texture all the way.

Hee hee,  thanks Jason

Hee hee,  thanks Jason smiley

The EIP tune is still a work in progress, having fun with all the new sounds.

I was getting a bit bogged down working with fragments of half a dozen tracks so my response was to get something finished as a moral booster laugh

The vocoded counter rhythm is

The vocoded counter rhythm is actually one of Jason's new BB kits where the samples were all recorded with heavy flanger. I set it to stereo wide, added some more reverb and the phaser on the master mix twisted it some more.

Works really well as a rhythmic and almost melodic counterpoint.

I think overall the vibe is dark but kinda warm sounding smiley

Nice drum programming and

Nice drum programming and rhythm, it has quite a tribal feel to it. When the FMSynth sound kicks in it somehow reminds me of a track from the 'Wipeout' series on PS1, but I can't think which one!

I think Empirion contributed

Thanks - I wanted a swampy, tribal vibe, it's not actually 4 to the floor all the way through, but it still feels like it is.

(I think Empirion contributed to the game soundtrack, I wouldn't be surprised if my track had a few influences from them.

*EDIT - actually, looked it up and Empirion weren't on it but they did contribute to Demolition Racer and a few other games, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcxgqC4omH8 is an example of why I love them, hard as nails and vicious DJ style cuts on the mix. I would also agree it's pretty close to being noise but it's incredible in it's precision and brutality*

The soundtrack to Wipeout and

The soundtrack to Wipeout and Wipeout 2097 are a 'who's who' of UK and European Techno/Trance/Electronica from the 1990's, at the time I was out clubbing pretty much every weekend - the soundtrack to my early 20's smiley

That trippy, kinetic sound still resonates with melaugh

I was around 15/16 for the Wipeout & Wipeout 2097 games - I had been given some large B&W speakers for my bedroom, and had hooked the PS1 up to them.  The soundtrack to those games were what really first got me into EDM music, and really made me want to go out clubbing, even though I was still too young!

That track by Empirion would certainly feel at home on either soundtrack - it has a very 'racey' feel to it!
