Caustic Song file (optional):
What? Rej is posting a song!? Yeah, sort-of.
This is about the extent to which I can keep my concentration on one "song". It's basically 1 pattern on a few machines, stretched out over a few minutes, with little tidbits coming and going. The whole thing is drenched in noob sauce (reverb+delay) but in this case it fits the theme so I can get away with it. I find this one puts me to sleep pretty easily so it's got some use.
I wanted to make a few PCMSynth presets using free NASA mission samples so I started with the Skylab3 mission. Turns out it takes a while to make a full preset so that's the only one I made, but hey at least I've now used it and you can too.
The tempo is a bit messed up because I ended up composing in half-time (55 BPM instead of 110 which it really should be). Don't know why I did that but by the time I cared enough I had already written the basic structure and couldn't be bothered to fix it.
Your track does a lot with a little. And you made it work despite beginning with the "wrong" tempo. That illustrates the importance of moving forward even after it's too late to fix a mistake. That's part of being a composer and it's something we've all done.
Again, really cool track. Looove those NASA samples.
Cool track, I like the beats a lot

You mean the beat .. there's only one.
Great song!
That's the kind of music I love.
And it shows what's possible only with few variations.
And by the way thanks for the NASA preset!

if it was a one shot sample tapping away then that's a beat, if there are several sounds mixed together surely that's 'beats'
...and I'm definitely knicking 'noob sauce' for future use

really cool...it cries out to be remixed though...
great atmosphere...(or lack of atmosphere depending on your perspective) i love the piano riff and the NASA samples.
Nice one Rej! Do you listen to internet radio stations like cryosleep? They play all sorts of chilled stuff like this.
Thanks for the NASA samples, I now know which mission some of the one's in Hyperspeed by The Prodigy came from!
I used to listen to SomaFM all the time, mostly GrooveSalad but cryosleep for really chilling out.
I didn't notice these were used in Hyperspeed, I'll have to listen again.
Whoa dude...... Rej..... made a song..... with his own App..... this is history poeple!
Nice one, I like the atmosphere you created for it. Yeah, SomaFM has some cool grooves when you want to try to forget all that Top40 crap.
Well done.
Hahaha I remember Hyperspeed... that's one you don't fall asleep to "psshhht we're crusin now at twice the speed of sound...."
Hmm, I think this is very psychological for Rej, the whole count down samples, I think his inner child is trying to rebel against all the pressure and timelines he is facing these days.
Nice to see a song that sounds good from the creator of the app.
On a side note, I think this is very good for your soul Rej, don't forget why we are here...
Mike
Hi Rej! I was just searching in my personnal archives to find a self-produced album made in 1996 (I was on Atari at this time), because someone here is pushing me to build a musical/theatrical show based on this booklet. So I scanned the cover...
Seems that I will have to use your NASA samples inside Caustic if I launch this show on (low caledonian) orbit...;-)
Nice track, perfect for me today as my brain is drenched in noob sauce too...

Haha james --- waiting to hear Noob Sauce
Cool! Really chill and atmospheric. Great job! :D
Noob Sauce is currently about two and a half minutes long, pondering whether to extend it or just give it a little polish

I liked the intro....overall good feeling!!!
P.S Rej, you too should keep creating music on caustic. To hear a track from the developer once in a while is good too....
