Caustic Song file (optional):
A lot of fun to make and mix - basic, repetitive but hopefully with enough energy to carry it.
2 FM Synths (I'm pretty obsessed with it at the moment, even more so after watching the tutorial today )
2 Beatboxes
1 Modular
1 Vocoder, not as an FX send but more as an Aural exciter for the main FM synth
1 PCM Synth for a couple of speech samples
I automated some pretty brutal octave changes on the FM Synth and on the Arp 'rate' on the Modular near the end, which inspired the title and a feature request;
- it would be awesome if you could automate the 'FIXED' pitch toggle on each Operator in the FM Synth.
Like most of my tracks I could probably do a lot more with it but I get really impatient when it starts to come together
Ooh...and I used a trick from this thread http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/node/4078
I used 'Mute Groups' and ghost notes (zero velocity) in the BB to control the playback length of samples.

cool track james...loved the arps...
brings back memories of my sharehousing days in the 90's.....back then all my flatmates were going to raves and blaring out techno 24/7 while i was listening to pantera, ministry and mudhoney.....strangely enough one of them is now listening to rock/metal while i'm leaning more to the electronic stuff....go figure....

wow!, i love this track...the beginning is awsome, reminds me of Prodigy...aggressive and driving...tremendous groove...im not sure the female spoken word sample works for me however...i would think about replacing it with a male monotone spoken voice instead...maybe ill play with it and see if i can find something that fits better...if you dont mind.
Thanks, glad you liked it, and, yeah please go right ahead if you've got something better. I had so few speech samples on my tablet to choose from, I just picked a couple that I thought just about fitted in.

This is, as I believe the youngsters do say, proper mental.
--Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Great,very nice track !!!!
Thanks everyone, one of my more finished tracks I think. I really loved the sound of the automated octave shifts on the FM Synth, need to be careful not to use it too often.

SICK beat! Really dig the arp kicking in at 1:56 & the scream samples. This is nasty & aggressive material

Brilliant work on this one!!!
EP Album 'Oblivion Messages Out Now'
The screams sounds just like one I had built into an old soundblaster 128 soundcard I had.
Downloaded the Caustic to have a poke about it and steal / borrow all the good ideas to claim as my own.
I do think it needs a vocal line that goes... We have Explosive, We have Explosive, We have, We Have, We have Explosive..

Love this track James. The opening bass sound is awesome, very mean sounding!
The FMSynth tutorial is next on my 'to do' list, I've recently finished the Modular tutorial, which now features heavily in the track I'm currently working on
