Caustic Song file (optional):
Ever since first purchasing the single '5am', and spotting there was also an acapella version available, I've fancied having a go at making my own Caustic remix of this song. I've since discovered all the individual stems were made available over a year ago, for a (long-since finished) remix competitions (Stems here). Despite the fact that there are already hundreds of remixes for that competition, I thought I'd amuse myself by having a go at my own version!
This track consists of 3 Beatboxes, a Subsynth sub-bass, 2 Modular basses, a Subsynth Melody, Padsynth Chords and a couple of Modular busses for additional effects, along with the original songs vocals, chopped up into 8-bar segments in PCMSynth.
One technique I discovered whilst making this, was automating the wet value of a stereo ping-pong delay on vocals (as a spike, in various places) in order to highlight individual words throughout the song with a bouncing echo effect, which seemed to work quite nicely!
Any comments welcome
Nice remix. That was sick.
Wow this is very impressive dude!
Really clean and very smooth mix, pretty catchy bassline, well structured beat and those delayed vocals makes this a good 10/10!
Pretty sick and groovy baseline keep it up!;)

Thanks a lot LuiG! In terms of how long it normally takes me to make a track, this was fairly quick (Started 10 days ago). I think it helped having the underlying vocals and therefore song structure already in place, It was just a case of then adding my own sounds to the vocals!

Did you make yours own samples?
Great eq/mastering too;)

If you mean the instrument presets then yes, they are all my own creations, although the PadSynth just uses the 'default' preset, which I thought fitted nicely enough without needing to be altered(!) Thanks again

Thanks James, same here - the Soundcloud photo is one I took myself when I went with some mates to see her live at O2 Academy in Birmingham in 2011

You sure have a great talent;)
One thing I didn't know you can chop vocals with pcmsynth? I always thought the beatbox was the only machine that could do that...I actually learned something new! ;D
