This track was originally created using Caustic 1.0, but I went back & did MUCH work on it using all the new goodies.
It was done without any use of patterns in the PCM synths and subsynth (limitations of Caustic 1.0) which actually freed me up to go really wild with the piano work- it sounds much like something I'd play live on piano. Hope you enjoy it
It has a wonderful organic feel to it, Andy, and it has a wonderful, desolate atmosphere - great work.
Niiice one..... I like this one
Really enjoyed this track Andy ...... nice work! I may get you to show me how to free it up a bit on my work. I find I tend to stick to patterns quite simply because it’s safe and easy to do. I’m not yet seeing the keys and instruments if that makes sense. I love how your tracks develop (same with Jason’s) and build. Thanks for sharing your work and providing great inspiration.
Thanks Rachel! It can be hard to get past the tedium of going note-by-note on the sequencer, but it really forces you to get creative. I almost always stick to patterns & there are plenty of ways to get them flowing together as a progression but that previous limitation of Caustic 1.0 was actually a good learning tool. Try going pattern-free on some of your instruments and see what comes of it- it just takes some serious patience.
p.s.- I'm still working on the track with your "Shades of Me" vocal samples. I really want to do them justice so the extra time & effort is going in there. Thanks again for letting me use that vocal track!

Love this. There's so much going on and its all swirling around in my head!
I will trying going patternless and see what happens! Now I've got more time I will be able to experiment more.....

Again, sorry I'm lagging on it... having a bit of "downtempo writers' block". I really want it to be great so forgive me if it takes longer than my other tracks. :)

This is top notch. The piano is very beautiful and filled with details and unexpected turns. Very interesting the hear that everything was done in the pianoroll.
great track..love the atmospherics....im inspired to try a patternless piece now..
