6/20/2015: It's finally done! Wahoo! Check it out!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Having just posted the final mix of the previous CCJ, that's typically when I start thinking about the next one.
This time around, I'm going to challenge the community (and I do believe this will be a challenge), to put together a track that uses nothing but sampled sounds.
How you go about creating your sound is entirely up to you, so long as the end result is something you created. I don't care if you want to use 14 machines in Caustic to create a sound, export it, and then use that as your sample(s) in your 1 machine you'll use when it's your turn in the jam. I don't even care if the sound source is from within Caustic. It has sampling capability, let's use it. Go record something and use Caustic to turn it into a sound you can use with one machine when it's your turn. Whatever machine you use, you can fill it up with as many samples as it will hold.
I don't care if you use the PCM Synth, Beatbox, or Vocoder as your machine when it's your turn.
If you are going to record something outside of Caustic with the devices mic, I do hope that you take care to create a quality sound. By that I mean don't be recording sounds with the bathroom fan running, or with traffic in the background (unless these are your intended sounds). Just try and do your best to create a clean, clear sample. It will help the end product out a lot.
Any questions? Sound fun? Who wants to start?

FYI - In the past I have encouraged each person to try return something within 3 days. We've done a bunch of these now, and I feel like that's just not realistic, so for this one, let's just work on it when we can, and we'll see when it gets done. (But I won't object if folks want to encourage each other to keep things moving either).
I'm in:) If no one else wants to start, I will. I will need a few days to create the sample idea I have.
You threw your hand up first, so you get spot 1.
Start whenever you are ready. No rush.

Sounds like a fun challenge, count me in!
Just to clarify though, is it just one sampled sound per person? Or, for example, could one person record eight different percussion sounds for use in the Beatbox?
mindfool
Ah! Good point mindfool, I neglected to address that (just updated the initial post to cover that, so thanks!).
8 custom samples for the Beatbox is fine. Go for it.

ALSO: can we make samples with a PC DAW like FL or Ableton? Or must it be Caustic/Real life only?

Make samples with anything you want, I don't care. Just so long as you can use it in whatever machine you pick when it's your turn.
I'm turning the faucet wide open on this one. :-)

Thanks:)
Thanks! I'm looking forward to what everyone's sample creations are and how they build their creative ideas into this tune:)
double post
Sky....Im doing my typical "listen to the track on endless loop" to get it burned into my mind. Ill start getting creative with it after a day or two of that.

Update: I decided to go with a Beatbox, and I'm creating my own entire kit from scratch. I'm using the C-SFX easter egg for my source sound of each of the beatbox instruments, exporting it, then bringing it back in an layering it with other stuff, and then routing the whole mess through a modular synth using machine inputs so I can mash it altogether and get a unique new sound. Then exporting out from that, and into my new beatbox preset.
I've got 4 instruments created for my kit so far.

I sampled my Akai Rhythm Wolf and made a beatbox. I'll throw it up in the presets.
Ground control to major tom
Havent forgot, just been busy with life. I'll work on it some more at noon today.

Looking forward to hearing where this goes...

I'd love to contribute to this!
However, I'd be thankfull, if you could place somewhere at the end of the schedule, as I'm graduating this month and am therefore quite busy until around March 26th.

LOL, I made some supersaw chords at first, but then I liked them so much, I kept them for another track :l
Gonna work on this more, although it may take some time as I have lots of work ahead of me :P

Wow, funny I was making a super saw from r this too.....
A song made up of sounds? It sounds like you are trying to accomplish dubstep. ( don't want a spot BTW just pointing that out.)
samples does not equal dubstep.
lol samples are used in all genres of music

Thanks I'll try not to disappoint. I'm working on it. I had to move Saturday and Sunday so there was a delay. I made 4 new pcm machines but I don't like any of them for this track.

This is going well. I like how everyone seems to be putting it together in a way that let's all the participant's contributions be heard. Good job so far everyone.

I ended up creating a "sound PAD" for PCMSynth composed Bassline, KSSynth, SubSynth and PadSynth. I hope to have ready all within minutes or hours later.

Wow, I'm really impressed with how this is sounding so far. First time I've had a proper listen since doing my bit and every contribution has been great! Agree with CR's comments, there seems to be a lot of "space" in this one, room for everything to be heard.

I intentionally kept my foot off the gas. I want the song to breathe. Where I typically turn my amps to 11. Seems like everyone is feeling the same vibe. Good going so far!
So uh, who wants to go again?
Google Play! | Facebook | YouTube!
I'll go again.
When you go again, how about you add another instrument, with new samples? I mean, you can tweak your original contribution if you want, but for those who go again, let's add a new instrument.
