I wonder if you would add the Timpani to the beatbox rack, and clear up the current Timpani track for one more machine. Your using just 5 of the 8 instruments in the beatbox rack, so maybe add the Timpani to the drum set, and then you could use that freed up track to, uh, I don't know, make it even more awesome?! :-)
I certainly could put the timps in the Beatbox, but I'm not sure I'd gain anything by piling more instruments on top. Sometimes it's nice to keep it minimal.
Actually, I'm not using "Wide" at all. I have the kick and reverse cymbal centered, the snare slightly to the left, and the clap slightly to the right. Happy to shock you with the Timpani in the second half! :)
I use about 3 sets of headphones daily - an old set of closed cup DJ ones on my desktop, a set of Sennheiser closed cups for my iPod that I also use on my Nexus 7 for Caustic 2 and a 3rd lightweight set I bought to use on my tablet only. Things sound so different on each
I don't get the wierd imbalance when I listen to it on my tablet so I'm guessing at least one set are on their way out
Totally reminds me of music off the first album from LaTour (with a bit of Jan Hammer melody).
Love it!
How many racks are you using?

nice drum sound, although I suspect your using 'wide' stereo as they sound panned a little left to me
And great retro feel - the toms/timps at 01:30 were a pleasant shock, made me chuckle

Best to find that out before you're working on your next track! ;)
everything I do ends up sounding a bit wonky, I don't think I can blame that on headphones :p

Nice one.....
Jason - what do you think of the mix? Any suggestions? I know you're very "sound-oriented."
Ill DL your song file and peek at it tonight....
I tend to fill everything up. I should try something more minimal in the future. Worked great for you.
