Lurking Monsters of Trance

Okay, looks like I lied about the last one being the...last one. Of course, THIS is the last one. Had a bit of a purple patch where the mix and arrangement were coming together so took advantage and finished a first cut.

BUt it's back to school now and time to read up on some music theory.

Will post the Caustic file for this one - would love it if anyone fancies a bash at a remix :D

Interesting feel.....yet with a hint of mysterious uncertainty.
Good lead work.
Yeah, getting some music theory in your head will open your eyes and ears to new ways to making your tunes in new ways..... Pssst little secret here..... Its all math and numbers. Focus on types of scales, and it will start to click from there. This is coming from a guy who loves dual and tri tones playing crazy grooves on a hammond b3 back in the day.....

He, yeah that was why I ended

Hee, yeah that was why I ended calling it 'Lurking Monsters of... ', I think the theory side of things will help expand my range, at least melodically and harmonically. Using shift and transpose works but it would be nice to have a bit more method there too.

Trust me.... it will hit you,

Trust me.... it will hit you, in your own way, how it works.... I'm telling you, it's all in the scales..... If you have a piano or keyboard, it is a good place to start to learn or put to practice what you learn.  Once you start to see the patterns in the sequence of numbers in the many types of scales there are, you will be developing chords and melodies and crazies in between in no time....   Oooooh, don't get me started, cuz I got my own little thingys about that, and my oldest daughter already starting to figure it out that way....    aaaaah, maybe another thread, another day...

Thanks guys, my fiance bought

Thanks guys, my fiance bought me a keyboard at Christmas - not USB or Midi, just a 'turn on and play' one with an okay Piano sample. Need to get practicing now - bought some books too to help with the theory side.

Link added to the OP, it's a slightly different arrangement than the mix on Soundcloud. And yeah, I kinda had you in mind as a potential remixer, the 303's were there as a siren call ;)

I tend to like things like

Thanks, not really listened to much classical music, I tend to like things like Gorecki, Ivo Part - music that is primarily influenced by Christian Religious or devotional music. I'm actually an atheist but I love its beauty and often almost stark 'simplicity'.

I struggle a bit with most classical music, often liking sections or themes but losing interest in the whole piece.

Doesn't mean that I don't think the theory is useful though.

Haha, that's ace. I should

Haha, that's ace. I should have guessed the spare rack was waiting for another Bassline ;) Love the way you've stretched it out and given it some more space. I really like your approach with effects, you take more chances than I do when it comes to twisting sounds.

Glad you approve. :o) I like

Glad you approve. :o) I like to experiment with sounds, all the way up to the extreme, it really helps me to understand how to get what I want out of the machines.
