Okay, I decided to work through my recent hump/lack of inspiration, not sure whether that was a good idea but...I really liked the funky, free feeling in Danseb's 'ToBassFor' tune (http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/node/1700)
I thought I'd try and write some bumpy, skippy house beats...
..and I tried to...
..but somehow just wrote another acid track
This is a pre-mix with effects in place of automation but I like the overall sound, I think the levels, balance and sounds feel pretty good.
Whether the track itself is actually any good is a completely different matter. As always it's really linear but with a couple of little experiments - muliple Basslines running in sequence to create a polyphonic Bassline effect and a custom Beatbox with 5 snares.
Oh yeah, and I experimented a bit with breaks, using some 1 bar breaks between 4 or 8 bar patterns and then having some 1 bar drops within a 4 or 8 bar pattern.
4 racks only. Ironic as Rej is just about to give us 14 to play with and I seem to be adopting a reductionist approach.
I'll post the .caustic file too later.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/80hxrqov5rsmmwl/ARABIC%20ACID.caustic this is a slighty different version to the one on SC - another rack added just for 4 notes
I really enjoyed this.... like the sound of all those basslines and the breaks are so nice!
yep I would be interested in seeing the .caustic file.
great track....love that baseline, i rarely use the baseline synth...im not sure why..lol
I love 303's. A little too much maybe but (to me) there's something almost magical about the sounds they make. Such an expressive range.
Caustic file in OP above now.

i think its because im accustomed to digital synths ..my first hardware synth was a Yamaha dx 100 which was a small basic fm synth...then i bought a Korg Wavestation which was a sample playback/wavetable subtractive synth.
I love the limitations of the Bassline - it's got a restricted yet somehow infinite palette.
I find the PCM Synth challenging though - I never really know what to do with it and just use it for Pianos, Organs, Strings plus some Bass sounds etc - I just can't get my head round it as a synth and creative tool in it's own right.

I like the basslines and the use of snares. Well, it seems that your lack of inspiration was a short story!
Well pushing through certainly worked for you - I'm thrilled I may have provided a little inspiration!
Loving the bassline - it's already stuck in my head!
Nice breaks, and the 5 snares work really well together. Great stuff
