Caustic Song file (optional):
I posted a short version in the C3 Forum a few days ago but here's a longer one.
Needs some post-production to really make it kick but I think it helps to demonstrate the great sounds you get out of Caustic 3.
I had problems exporting though - crashes C3 as soon as export finishes
Organ Synth
Pad synth
Modular
FM Synth
Two Basslines
Two Beatboxes
Heavy use of the reverb and delay insert effects and used Comb Filter on the FM Synth
*29th July, new version uploaded to SC, new Caustic file uploaded 31st July*
Cool!
Nice track man.
Are you using stereo width 1/3 the way in?
I know Jason is an Organ fanatic but I was playing with it last night, such a nice addition.
Mike
Thanks folks. Yeah the organ is great, you can get some lovely pure bell sounds from it.
Mike, stereo width? I used width on 3 or 4 racks. Does it sound a little skewed to the left channel to you too?
I also used stereo insert delay. I need to do some automation so will try and correct other niggles.

You said you liked critique. :)
There is one part 0:44 and 1:05, this is guess but is seems like you should pan either of those two opposite. To me there is to much "center" which I think width does in a weird way.
I Love the track, it just seems you are putting things on top of each other instead of next to each other.
I AM ONLY saying this because you are using multiple leads. When I use leads I try to get their pans different or make sure the delay is offsetting abit.
Anyway...
Mike
I'm gad you liked - your critique hits the nail on the head too. I can be really lazy when it comes to mixing and finishing stuff, by the time the pieces fall into place I'm too excited about having a new tune to focus on polishing it.
It doesn't help that the lead melody is actually played on 3 racks simultaneously in some places.
I'll make several run throughs recording automation, there's some filter movements I want to record on the Mod synth and I'll tidy up the mix with some fades and panning to breath a bit of life into it.
I adjusted the levels of most racks way down so the drums could be loud enough without clipping BUT the new sounds, especially from the FM and Mod synth are soo big it's hard to get the balance right.
I love the insert reverb and delay effects, I'll probably over use them until I've calmed down

new version uploaded to SC, new mix with some automation and tried to use the full stereo spread a little more expansively - I've replaced the existing file rather than post an alternative version.

This is very inspiring
Wow, thank you
Mike really helped me focus on what I should think about improving, I still haven't nailed it, drums seem a little quiet now and there's still too much 'stuff' going on in the middle but I'm really proud of it - it's the kind of punchy, driving, trancey techno that (in my imagination at least) would do serious damage on a dancefloor
I think it's time to leave it alone for a bit and try something new, otherwise I'll still be fiddling around with the mix when we're in Beta

Ha, great improvement, you're missing a control, use the force...
Serious improvement, 0:30 flattens, 1:00 sounds awesome.
Mike hehe
