Plink Plonk - my last C3 Alpha 1 track

Caustic Song file (optional):

with C3 Alpha 1 just about to come to end I thought I'd quickly finish a mix and arrangement for something I started a day or two ago.

A silly little thing - minimal and bleepy.

The title has a recursive meaning - Mr C from The Shamen ran a really cool underground UK techno label in the 90's called Plink Plonk, which in turn was a nod to Kraftwerk's Kling Klang studio smiley

(amended the subject line so it says 'my last C3 Alpha 1 track' I wouldn't want to presume that it's simply the last C3 Alpha 1 track full stop)

timing of the delays seems to drift a little - maybe an export problem or may have been set incorrectly in the first place

Hey, ho. Rej made it clear

Hey, ho. Rej made it clear before anyone installed Alpha that you would lose the files so I'm keeping an audio record instead. I guess this may also be true in Beta. It's been a privilege to be involved in an Alpha release, the closest I've come previously was Beta testing patches for a PC game so it's been a great experience smiley

I think I remember being told

I think I remember being told that files saved in Beta builds should be safe at that point..... Rej can confirm that if he pops up tonight....

Nice track mate,

Nice track mate,

yeah the risk with releasing alpha software into the wild is that many people, unless working on a dev team, have never used it and expect too much.(that's not been the case so far btw)

To give you an idea, for ~5-6 months I've been working with completely broken builds where it couldn't load ANY files, couldn't save either, crashed half the time for no reason, etc. That's what software looks like when you don't have anyone relying on it being stable...

In my experience it's easier to explain that the software will crash than to explain that the UI is not finished. Most people can't contribute to stabilising code, but they DO know what they like to see. Hence I rarely release things without decent UI anymore before that becomes the sole focus of dicussion and nobody talks about the actual features and bugs.

He he, thanks. It was thrown together as a tester but has ended up being one of my favourite Caustic tracks to date, I exported the midi so may see if I can resurect it at some point surprise
