Nano Fusionary - New Track with some trance elements

Well I got a new track, called Nano Fusionary, it started from a kinda arpeggio thing, which I made note by note, then while it was building I thought it might lend itself to a kind of trance vibe, now I know you purists out there might say, arrggg this isn't trance, so I'm not saying it fits perfectly and smoothly into the Trance genre, only that it has some trance elements...so any thoughts on this are as always welcome...smiley

Hey, the whole "genre" thing

Hey, the whole "genre" thing is over my head ... BUT I just really enjoyed hearing this on SC.  Loved the open, I liked when bells start tolling just past 1:00 (that's the way I heard it, bells tolling), andI like how it came back to that at the close, too.  I liked the layering that creates a great atmosphere throughout.  Nice!

Cheers JH, yeah most of the

Cheers JH, yeah most of the things are just presets, but I like to find a preset and then give it a couple of twists, and add a bit of effect here and there, as for the genre thing, yeah, I'm generally of the thinking of just make the music and see where it ends, and worry, or not worry about where it fits in...I reckon we are fairly like minded in this, so yeah nice one

I agree about presets.  There

I agree about presets.  There are so many already in Caustic that can be tweaked to something new and, as you say, have effects added, that it's been seldom that I brought in something new.  I have rolled my own once or twice.  I also believe in creating the music and then running the same section through different presets until something clicks.  I know that is sort of accidental creativity but, hey if it sounds right, it is right.

I like this a lot, has a nice warm atmosphere.  I wouldn't know if this is trance or not to be honest but making something fit perfectly and smoothly into any genre sounds like something to be avoided if anything, lol!  Good job!

Cool trippy track! Genre

Cool trippy track! Genre doesn"t matter, it's good music. Had to listen again!

Maybe the wha/distorted synth is the beginning has to be refined a little bit.

hey thanks guys,

@ mindfool, yeah i do kind of agree about the genre thing, and i never start out to create a certain style, so yeah, quite like minded...

@skarabee, yeah i hear what you are saying, this was quite a bit of work for me, maybe i need to give tracks like this a cooling off period before sending it out...lol

Definitely a smooth sound!!;)

Had a bit of trouble when listening to the wha-distorted synth, didn't know if it was distorted on purpose or was naturally...
But overall another cool track!;D

Cheers LifeUp, that one is a subsynth preset, which has a distortion already on one of the filters, and then I ran it through the vocoder to try and get another sound alteration, I must admit I was in 2 minds, and I am still in 2 minds, hey ho...lol...I really appreciate your feedback though, it's good to hear how other people perceive your tracks

FWIW, I like the slightly

FWIW, I like the slightly distorted sound on those hits.  Felt like it provided a counterpoint the smooth nature of the rest of the track.  To me it was like hearing a church bell toll in the midst of a pastoral scene.  To each their own ... :-)

Yeah, I think like a few

Yeah, I think like a few people here, I get to a certain point, when you have to make a decision, about a certain sound, and i just think right, I will not do any more work on it, but I have to laugh really as it happens nearly every time, I start to agonize over it, in the cold light of day, I know I will never get the absolute perfect sound or song, but also striving for it is ok, as long as it doesn't send me nuts...especially working with software to create music ( notice I don't use the word produce ) I struggle a bit with not being technically minded, but I always say that music is a representation of the person making it...what that says about me I dare not say...lol...my next piece is something completely different, back to a very early psychedelic / surf vibe complete with some sonic feedback, we will see how this translates through a digital software program

psychedelic/surf, cna't wait

psychedelic/surf, cna't wait to hear!...

I know what you mean about creation and decision. (nice to use the right term, by the way). About perfection, some words by Salvador Dali:

"don't be afraid by perfection. You will never reach it."

That's a pleasantly strange

That's a pleasantly strange track. There's a swank little groove to it. Fret not about the imperfections. Most of my SoundCloud uploads need final editing. I start with one sound, sometimes including pattern, when making a song. Followed by adding complimentary layers.
