Palm Muting?

My friend and I are starting a Deathcore band, and I was going to demo out songs on Caustic. Being a fundamental technique, it would be super useful to be able to imitate palm mutes on Caustic. So far, I've only figured out that I should manipulate the decay and the low pass filter. Does anyone else have any idea how to do it?
On the subject, tips for humanizing or information about an app or website that emulates FL Studio's Note Humanizer (that may be wrong it's been awhile since I've messed with it) would also be helpful.
Edit: The band seems to have stagnated, but help is still welcome.

Depends on the synth you are

Depends on the synth you are using.

The most important factor is the amp envelope: your attack is at zero, with a fast decay time to taste. You must then automate your sustain knob (unless your machine is dedicated to a palm muting sound) between shortly after your decay time and a full sustain.

Adjust attack/decay envelopes to taste. I often tweak the attack parameters to search for that "picking" sound.

Hey sonus, I do a bit of deathcore myself, what guitar preset have u got? Or what tuning are you working with. I'm looking for someone to do a few drum patterns for my Beatbox. I usually make backing tracks for metal on caustic, play along with on my 7 string, Dude would love to collaborate with you guys

K5grind, I use the basic Dist Guitar preset; I usually play in drop-C (only have a 6-string); I'm always willing to collaborate, though I'm not well versed in death riffing. I've always been able to write thrash and black metal riffs, but until I listened to Rat King - Dark Sermon, I could never write a good death one, so I'm still struggling with faster riffs. Ironically, I'm thinking of writing a Pig Destroyer influenced EP.

Hey Sonus,

Hey Sonus,

Glad to hear more metal projects are in the works.

Have a listen to my Pantera/ Slayer-influenced song "Stolen F-22" at the soundcloud link here on this post.  I'm very proud of it, especially the solo part, complete with squeals & nasty harmonics (Bridge/ tempo shift, then solo from 1:59-3:27).  There's even a little slap & pop bass solo in the outro.  I also uploaded the .caustic file for you too, so you can check out how I divvied up guitar duties.  You can use them too if you like.  The instruments evolved from BigBeard Audio's "realinstruments" & "jamroom" PCMsynth presets.  In fact, this track was built mostly with PCMsynths (understandably; a realistic guitar, with palm muting & harmonics would be damn near impossible to pull off proper with subtractive or modular synth...)

There's some crazy brutal drum action in there too.  Double-kickdrums, cymbal crash in all the right spots.

Looking forward to what you create!  Let me know what you think of my work

No prob.  Considering the

No prob.  Considering the Deathcore sound you're looking for, my four-piece guitar ensemble + bass guitar might have the versatility, varied picking methods & brutally distorted power chords/ sharp palm muting that you need.  One other thing you'll need if you go this route- patience >> It'll pay off big time.  Because I'm using multiple synths to simulate each guitar sound I had to do a lot of "back-and-forthing":  Laying down part of a riff on one synth with designated blank spots, filling in the palm-muted part on another synth, then for the main solo leads I'd build on yet another- with blank spots to fill in with the harmonic lead notes/ squeals on that specific synth- (and then layering them together where I could get away with it like during the 3-guitar solo= one rhythm, two independent leads)

But dude, I promise you it's worth it to do this.  No way a single, or even two synths can incorporate the dynamics of a real, expertly played guitar.  Speaking of which, I did this song quite a while back.  I've learned many cool new guitar synth tricks & simulated picking styles; I wish I had a full track to show off the new techniques but they're all derived from the mechanics of this one, Stolen F-22

As soon as you have some headphones or speakers that don't suck nearby, play the track I posted & download the .caustic file

Hey Sonus,

Hey Sonus,

I d/l'd your .caustic track but it's not loading in Win Caustic or on my phone (I'm on 3.1).  How about posting a Soundcloud link- Dying to hear what it sounds like.  Is this built in 3.2 Beta?  I'm going to try installing it & make another attempt.

Did you get a chance to hear Stolen F-22 or download the .caustic file?  Considering your style it might have guitar elements that would be of value to you.  I pretty successfully put together the Dimebag Pantera sound I set out for with nasty rhythm/ power chord work, sharp-as-f*ck palm-muting, screaming harmonic leads

Andy Bones, it's in 3.2, and don't have a SoundCloud (well, I do, but it's never used), and when you get to listen to it keep in mind it's only a bare-bones demo.
And I've downloaded and listened to it, but haven't got to dissecting all the parts yet. It's impressive though.

Thanks man!  And yes, I gotta

Thanks man!  And yes, I gotta get on 3.2.  I just noticed the "upload mp3" feature seems to be gone from this forum... That was a useful tool for those without SC accounts to have their music heard instantly with a mouse-click.  Maybe it was a load on the server?  *EDIT:  Nevermind I just saw it again, you can still upload MP3 or OGG here.  Don't know why the button for it wasn't showing

To make more sense out of the synth arrangement in "Stolen F-22" basically the open power chord synth is laid out with the gaps for the palm-muted guitar synth to fill in, so two PCM's make the rhythm guitar.  The lead guitar's divvied up three ways, a high-pass delayed lead synth, a flat lead synth & one more that acts as the harmonic squeal/ feedback for both those two guitars, using the appropriate automation of delays/ filters/ effects to match the guitar harmonics are being used on.

So it's a 6-piece band; two leads, a rhythm guitarist, bassist, drummer & keyboard jockey.  The singer was fired after he pawned the P.A. to buy heroin.
