imitating a feature (brute factor) from my arturia microbrute on caustic 3's modular synth

Hello and thank you for accepting me in your community.

Might anyone know how to set this famous feature consisting in "the kind of feedback loop that you would get from taking the output of a synth and feeding it back in" (read on my arturia microbrute's features) in caustic's 3 modular synth ?

I spent good time with this monophonic hardware (arturia microbrute) and other gear from my collection but I'm approaching very very close results with Caustic 3, excepting those kinds of harmonic distorsions as I'm not sound designer.

Thank you very much.

Salut Bebert and welcome! Maybe you could share the preset and an example of the sound you are trying to emulate, so somebody can try?

Hello!

Hello!

Yes, an example of the sound would be good. I think the hard thing would be to replicate the filter from your Brute, which is unique to the synth .

Here is a simple demo

Here is a simple demo featuring 6 similar lead series in different situations in my daw. The basic lead sound is a simple sawtooth lead detuned with a slight pitch lfo.

Hey,

Hey,

I did a first quick go at it.

I cheated a bit, The Micro is one oscillator + a sub right? Well, I used two wave form gens... By tuning the cents to varying degrees in parallel one can get the beating sound. I also leaned one saw towards a triangle and the other toward a square. The patch is messy (some of the filters aren t in use) but it s a good start, I think some one (Skara? Radio? Jason?Phorsion?Paulovski?) Could swoop in and get it closer. The filter is the hard part.

Edit: posted wrong file.

Indeed the Microbrute

Indeed the Microbrute features one oscillator with a sub (not used in this patch).

Dont know exactly what this

Dont know exactly what this brute factor is, it's definitely more than just feedback. My modular intent included here sounds great but not the same as your example. By default the preset doesn't use the brute emulation, you bring it in by turning up the level of the second input on the 3-input module (the top right one). I also added another cool effect to the third input that you can play around with,  nothing fancy but it sure add some attitude to the sound.

Have funwink

Oh, OK, ! just looked at the file I sent, sorry, it has other machines in it I was trying out beta stuff with. Here s a clean version. Again it s not exactly the same as the SoundCloud you posted but by using two oscillators with their Cents offset it takes the feeding back into self sound. One might consider running the output of a sub or osc. Into the am or FM or even note of another osc.

I think if I remember

I think if I remember correctly watching the video introducing that synth some time ago, it was a combination of feedback and saturation of sorts to get that gritty flavor to it, making for some killer lead sounds to taste and style -- certainly a unique tone for its class

@jason, yeah that why II was thinking of feeding one osc into another... But the thing is the filter is  very unique and we just don T have a match. Sign of a good synth

Thank you very much for your

Thank you very much for your answers, I'm ashamed because I can't open your caustic files though it is transffered on my android device and also recognized by Caustic's browser. It's the first time doing this : loading the files like I would load other songs isn't it ? But nothing is appearing. Have I missed something ? My version is the latest, Caustic 3.1.2 .

The Microbrute is definitely the hardware synthesizer which cured me from too much collection, ten years before I was reluctant to buy full analogic as the market of modern full analog was expensive compared to nowadays.

Being able to record (by threshold recording) loops via Usb Audio in Caustic would be a great feature as the Microbrute features a pattern sequencer which can be triggered easily. For the moment I sometimes make multisamples via Audio Evolution Mobile and import them to Caustic.
