Well here's the deal, I always wanted to make a song with bagpipes in it (there's something about that wining squeaky sound that touches you deep down in your soul). But I never managed to do it, every time I tried it just sounded weird or even silly.
But I thought I would give it a try in caustic and here's the result.
This song is dedicated Islay the Scottish island were some of the best singlemalts are made.
This time I only use two subsynths, one for the bagpipes and one for the bass.
Very cool, I'll have to have a another listen tonight with a glass of Bowmore. (it's 8 am right now...)
Wait, that bagpipe is a subsynth! ... wow, care to share the preset?
Did you get the sound gotten from clever sequencing and effects or does the preset really sound that close? (like the small "trill" note at the beginning)
Another style for Caustic!
I think the trill effect is donc in the sequencer. Nice job, very realistic. Loves the drums too.
By the way, Caledonia was the latin name for Scotland... So, I live in new Scotland. (no bagpipes here, but we do have a local beer)
Yes that effect is played in the sequencer. I thought that sound came from the instrument itself but then I watched a bagpiper on YouTube and realized they actually play it that way. I'll upload the preset during the day along with the intro so you can check how its done. The hole song was a little to big to have on dropbox. The piano is a huge soundfont. Maybe I'll upload the song when Mike's done with that causticfile upload option.
