(Finished) Seducer (My First Stab At Dubstep) +.caustic file

Caustic Song file (optional):

Ok, so a few days ago, I said that dubstep couldn't be properly done using Caustic. Dubstep ain't really my bag, but I know it's a big complex style, much like drum n bass. But then, pan65 took it as a challenge and made a fine tune. Then I took it as a challenge myself to see if I could make dubstep myself. Watched a couple of tutorials, but learnt the most from just listening to various tunes.
I called it Seducer because as soon as I started on it, I was hooked. Been so much fun making this that I will definitely make more in the future.
I started with sampled wubs online, but by the end, about 90% of them are my own creations using modular, sawsynth and subsynth.
I'm happy to eat my words. It can be done. I've included the caustic file cos yet again, sc has somehow fudged the quality. I even tried uploading wav instead of ogg and it made zero diffs. Sounds loads better fresh outta Caustic.
As always any comments are appreciated.
Enjoy :-D

Sounds massive & fat as fuck......I like that. Love the mix between bass at 1:07......... I hear a complex arp in my head progressing through the track

@Slovo, it surprisingly didn't take long. I think I'm cheating using wub bass samples so making my own will take time. The best advice I can give is always the same. Stop enjoying a tune, and analyse it, break it down. I'd be happy to help.
@Danny, cheers dude. I did actually have a complex dx arp running through but took it out as it was a bit too much. Thinking a basic chord melody, like Fire Hive or something. But yeah, I do like the fatness of it, just needs reigning in a tad. Definitely not morning music lol. I got a messed up idea to put eminem's The Way I Am over it, sped up and pitched down....

Nice track. Never expected

Nice track. Never expected you to make dubstep since you're more of a dance man.

Haha, neither did I dude, but

Haha, neither did I dude, but I've tried most styles. Best way of learning and evolving I think. Spending the day making my own wub sounds. Prefer to replace the samples with sounds I made myself so I ain't standing on other's shoulders. Way more complex than I thought though lol

@alexei I'm more of a dnb guy

@alexei I'm more of a dnb guy but I have produced many genres like big room( unreleased) deep house(unreleased) quite a few dubstep tracks and made some psytrance with DJ toxbox . cant seem to find him on SoundCloud though.

Yeah! I like the jungle

Yeah! I like the jungle/Jamaican melody stabs a lot!
It is a bit complicated when it comes to make dubstep bass/wobbles in Caustic but I guess you made it happen!;)

Cheers dude. I thought I'd

Cheers dude. I thought I'd spend yesterday making my own wub samples using various synths. I managed to get three useable samples lol. I made some really good ones but they just dont go with this tune. Getting there though

Cheers dude. Not a massive

Cheers dude. Not a massive dubstep fan either. This is more a concept tune, to see if it could be done. Tricky stuff to make. Over four hours work for four bars of sequence lol

Hi AB,

Hi AB,

I am blessed or cursed with absolutely no knowledge of modern genres so you will get the unusual perspective of someone who will not be measuring this against any genre standard ...

I really enjoyed this track!  The heavy drums and bass really drove it and kept forward motion. You have a really, really good balance between your melodic lines and your glitchy, electronic shots.  It keeps both running without either being lost.  I like that so much of the rhythm is carried and propelled by those glitchy sounds and if anything starts getting crazy, your drums and bass keep them centered.  Bottom line is my head was bobbing and brain absorbing all the cool layering that was going on.

So there you have your non-genre, non-technical review.

See I told you everything is

See I told you everything is possible if you put your back to itsmiley. Well done Alexei. Now about making your own wubs in caustic I suggest you try FM using the modular, the secret ingredient is odd waveforms like triangle and saw and feedback loops helps as well.  You can use my presets from "Can Do" as template's if you want,  nice thing about those is that they use multiple detuned voices which gives the sound a little extra character and width.

Once again well donesmiley

yeah, so your finished track.

yeah, so your finished track. Definetely like this, a bit like JH and some other users, im not stuck into the genre trap, so although i know to a certain extent that this ticks those boxes, im more interested in the song. It's a cracking piece, and yes it has great balance and movement, and great use of dynamics, with the different parts linking and moving the song along. Really like that melody running through which has a slightly oriental structure and sound, to me that lifts it into something different, and marks it out as your individual creation, this to me is one of your great strenghs...brill

Cheers Wells. I know dubstep

Cheers Wells. I know dubstep is a london creation, but to me it always sounds futuristic and I always imagine japanese neon signs so I thought I'd play on that. It was originally gonna be an bitsynth melody, but when I harmonised it, it was begging for some oriental treatment.
Def a road I will be going down again. Been reposted a couple timeas on sc and its really good to get strangers clicking like to it. And always appreciate the feedback from people who make music too
