PCM Continued Play

I've been trying my hand at designing instruments for the PCM machine. This morning after completing some Mellotron instruments, I loaded some of the factory instruments and got a big surprize! The sound continued to play for a moment AFTER I lifted my hands off the keys....Mine instruments DON'T do that!! I tried to look around the instruments, (mode, looping setup, etc.), but I couldn't find where I'm going wrong. What am I missing?

Thank you

Or set your sample(s) play

Or set your sample(s) play mode to Note On/Off instead of PlayOnce

Thank you to all the replies!

Thank you to all the replies!!! I was looking at stuff like Deep Pad, and some of the sweeps...stuff that loops. I also noticed that the "Pro" instruments are all C1 to C8. Mine are multi-sampled...(C2-F#2, G2-B2, C3-F#3, etc). Not sure if that makes a difference or not. I do know it makes for pretty big files! The Mellotrons where sampled from G2 to F5, just like the regular instrument, and recorded 8 seconds in length. I put the 3 instruments I made in play mode Note On/Off....just FYI. I'll go back and take a look at the volume envelope, and ADSR release times of the "Pro" instruments to see if I can figure this out. It might just be I'm being too OCD with the amount of multi-samples...

Since each note on a

Since each note on a Mellotron is a separate tape, one sample per key would be the most realistic. For other things it depends on the sample. Some stretch better than others.

Yeah, I don't get the presets

Yeah, I don't get the presets that use only one single sample.   Most of my presets in my content packs that I offer out there, are almost 90%+ multi-sampled setups, many of which have 25 or more multi-samples each (and I'm not talking about PocketKit ones either)

Mellotron was an interesting innovation of "sampling" for its time, and served its purpose quite well, considering the fragile state of the mechanics involved.  It's amazing how these machines still work today, and the enthusiasts who still maintain them.

Jason,

Jason,

The Deep Pad preset does not come from any of your libraries or anyone else's for that matter. It's a factory preset that came with 3.1. I was just making an observation that it only had one sample spread out across the entire keyboard range. File is only 68Kb. Anyway, I have ignored the ADSR and left it at default settings. That is why my instruments stop play. I will not make this oversight from now on. Looking forward to 3.2!!!

Thanks again to Jason, Rob, anickt, and ANIKETEHLULZ who responded.

You have to set the play mode

You have to set the play mode for each key independently for it to operate as intended.  If it is not operating as such, you should report it as a bug and offer the file for dissection.
