Hi
So I got myself the app WavePad Free, to chop up an acapella. 'Once in a Lifetime' - Talking Heads. I've always thought that this tune is screaming out to be remixed EDM style. Decent bpm. And it's a great chorus - big hook.
So I've chopped it up into separate lines of vocal, and I'm planning to put a line on each key of the PCM keyboard. Which I am hoping is possible. If anyone can just tell me that it is doable, save me wasting time!
Ah - my tip! If you need a wave editor, WavePad Free is doing me fine. Once you get used to it, it does what it says on the tin. Also, go discover accas4u, Google for address....
Cheers, wish me luck!

So watched the tutorial - all done, but thanks anyway B12. Samples mapped up the keyboard. Sorted! :-)
Just curious. Why not use the built in audio editor?

You're filling some mighty big talking head boots there! Tread carefully!

I personally prefer using the vocoder for one reason. I can cut through a sample without actually inserting silence in to the sample and maintain its length

Actually once you've got the PCM with the vocal samples spread across it, it would be awesome to release that as a preset... probably not on this site though as they'll be copyright issues... Hmmm... But I wouldn't mind having a crack at doing a version of it.
I've got a clean vocal track of the Ace of Base cover of Cruel Summer (by Banarama [of which nothing bad can be said of!]) which I desperately want to slice up and have a go at!

Rob - I TOTALLY hear what you are saying! Some tunes just shouldn't be messed about with. But I'm hoping if I can make it different enough and not just some cheesy what-have-you I might get away with it! Also, sure, I'll sort you out with the sample map at some point. :-)
paul - I'm guessing what you refer to allows you to edit waves - didn't know C3 could do that. Ah well, same result in the end.
The issue I am having is everything having to be done in separate patterns. I haven't worked out if I can just play the song in record and lay down a track several patterns long in one go, rather than working on each pattern individually, if that makes sense. So the vocal track I could just record live in one hit then go into the patterns and edit them for timing etc.
Cheers

And I know I keep banging on about it, but if you want accas of thousands of songs then check out the accas4u site. :-)
Yeah. Any sample in a sampling machine has access to an audio editor. 3.2 has a stand alone one too. For the PCM, long press the level button.
The sequencer has it's own piano roll. Press the button to the left of where it says 'patterns'. If you record in song mode, that's where everything will go.
