The Prodigy - Out Of Space(EIP Remake) [L!feUp Mastering]

Caustic Song file (optional):

After listening to Jason's awesome remake of this awesome classic..I had to mess around with the file! And after a couple of hours of adjustments and mastering...here is my "mastered" version to Jason's remake!;)
[With the new Mastering app]

I did very small crop changes of some the samples used..and also added a bit of compression and eq on the lows and vox/samplers.

Check out the .caustic file and you'll understand and hopefully learn a few tricks:)

Awesome remake Jason!!

Here's the mp3 for those who wanna listen on the go..

A bit heavy on the

A bit heavy on the compression..... it's the low end.    Do the Comp's and then add the low end to the mix at the end of the chain.

Aside from that, sounds groovy, with the LifeUp touch!

Nice work. cool   The Experience Album and the remix cd's were my favorite of the Prodigy, there was just a unique atmosphere about that, that set it aside from the typical breakcore/hardcore style of the early 90's (1992 for this project )

Yeah I had doubts about the

Yeah I had doubts about the lows...for some reason in your caustic file,a lot of distortion was showing especially on the lows...I had to reassemble the lows and cut frequencies to get a clear signal...but was not completely satisfied.
I get what you're saying when compressing the lows, sometimes its better to use less or no compression at all...hmmm I think I've heard that somewhere before, that's how I learned..;)

I like this track but I'm not

I like this track but I'm not fond of how it sounds like the song is being played outdoors on a stage far away.  Probably a personal preference but I dont like that much reverb.

On a stage far away in space?

On a stage far away in space?!:p

Maybe either me or Jason should spent at least more than 2 hours on the file...lol

Its just a personal

Its just a personal preference of mine not to use reverb on an entire track.  Its not the mastering, I heard it on the original.  I'm not bashing Jason's abilities or anything like that, clearly he knows more about producing than most of us in here combined.  The ears like what the ears like.

You heard alot of perceived excess reverb on the track?    hmmmmm, now I may have to go back and check it out again

Oh I think it's the little

Oh I think it's the little reggae sample loop, I tried something funky with it, that had a mixture of reverb and delay to it, probably too long of a tail on that, and forgot about it.   On my original mix, that effect seem to lay back nicely when the drums came in....

Here's the original 1992 (credit the Prodigy XL Records) recording to compare:

Yeah the original is the same

Yeah the original is the same way.  Maybe I'm used to highly compressed and smashed masters.  I have noticed older electronic masters have that muffled sound, especially Jungle, where the drums have that spacy vibe.  Again this is all personal preference.

That was an awesome track and video, some of those dance moves are still used today, cool!

well back in the 90's with

well back in the 90's with limited RAM and other resources, many users were forced to downgrade sample quality to 6 and 8 bit, just to push through as much content as possible, that may contribute to the hollow tone and other mashed up effects....

Page not found!

Would have loved to have had a muck about with it too, but getting:
''Page not found

The requested page "/sites/default/files/songs/%281%29%20OutOfSpace%20L%21feup.caustic" could not be found.''

Any further info?

The original vocals, for those who might not know yet, are from the studios of Lee Scratch Perry, inovative Jamaican producer, vocalist, dub merchant, and so on. And by The Upsetters and Prince Jazzbo, and features Max Romeo on vocals so far as i know? And it is Max's vouice which made it from this original onto Prodigy's use of it. Funny how REALLY riustic analogue music TOTALLY suits advanced digital gear a LOT!

Strange, seems to be fine

Strange, seems to be fine when I dl to my phone. Hopefully the file I've attached here is OK. It may vary slightly from the original one on this thread, but it sounds like a version barely indistinguishable from the prodigy's. Have fun!
