Here's another little preset for the Subsynth - of you play it with only 16th notes and a slight delay or reverb it makes a passable steel drum.

Oh, and I recommend turning the bass all the way down in the mix as well.
Thanks, this will be a nice synth to add to the collection. I don't understand how you're converting files to .subsynth?
Oh yeah. You made it in Subsynth. I was just being stupid about the converting.
But it would be cool if you could convert soundfont SF2 into .subsynth files or .pcmsynth that's what I was getting at.
Hi,
You can't do a conversion like that because wav samples are just recorded sound. The Subsynth actually creates sound with it's oscillators and settings. So you have a synthesis model (Subsynth) and sample model (PCMSynth) which are two entirely different ways of making sound or in the case of the PCMSynth, rebroadcasting recorded synthesis.

You can convert SF2s into .pcmsynth, you just need to load them and save back out...Mike already explained the subsynth patch files.
Have a look at the PCMSynth tutorial video, it shows an example of loading a soundfont.
