I've tweaked my track "Gritty" to the point where I'm calling it done. Somebody at work said I should add a bass guitar, but I'd like a few more opinions.
As far as bass goes, I did add some low bass drops sparingly throughout the track.
Here's the SoundCloud link:
it makes me a think a little of The Art of Noise - has a similar disregard for genres. A few shades of dubstep too - no idea whether that was intentional though!
Really like the effects on the lead sound just before the end - compressor?

the lead sound kinda takes up the middle - I'm not sure whether bass is needed either

I do have a compressor on the drum channel, linked to the gritty guitar channel, but that runs the whole track length. What time in the track are you referring to, I'll take a listen and answer more specifically.
I like how you put it: "disregard for genres". Most of the music I listen to is symphonic, power, and a little gothic metal (Edenbridge, Nightwish, Delain, Tarja, etc.) and also dubstep (Going Quantum mixes). So if that's not a wide interest range, I don't know what it. :-) Funny you mention Art of Noise, although I have their album "In Visible Silence", I wasn't even thinking of them when I wrote the track. (At least not intentionally).
