Hey all, I finally have reached a release point for Caustic Guide!
Google Play - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teotigraphix.caustic.g...
A Caustic Library Manager, import/export machine, note data, effects and more.
Caustic Guide is a Library Manager that imports and exports Caustic rack data.
- Create new empty Template or a Template from an existing .caustic file, A Template is a proxy of a .caustic file with metadata.
- When choosing a .caustic file to create as Template, you can play/audition the .caustic file in the browser real-time and look at another users' metadata they added.
- Export Templates as a .caustic file with metadata that shows in the popup when the Caustic App is opened.
- Batch export Caustic preset files for each selected machine.
- Batch export Sounds(complete machine state, preset, 2 effects, mixer, pattern data, pattern automation, song pattern track, song piano roll, song automation.) Custom metadata can be applied to all Sounds before export.
- Export a Group of Sounds. This is 1..14 Sounds that are copies of full Caustic machine state as listed above.
When importing a .caustic file with Modulars that have MachineInput components, the Group export screen will list the master and slave relationships. Also, checking a Master will select all slave machine automatically for export in the group.
- Import Preset, Sound or Group into an existing Template as a new machine or in the case of a Group, multiple machines. When importing, you will have the granular option of importing any piece of the Sound e.g. mixer, patterns automation etc that you will use in the new .caustic file.

Thanks to all the beta testers that helped me the last 8 months, the app really came together. I hope the greater Caustic Community can see how much this can expand Caustic and user collaboration and individual user song reuse.
Just the ability to bring pre made monster synths (Modulars with MachineInputs) into yuor existing track and then back them down into a PCMSynth in Caustic, rinse and repeat should make a lot of users happy.
Right now my forum has the ability to start sharing Templates, Groups and Sounds on the forum, so make a user and share your Sounds, patterns or super synths with others.
I spent almost 2 years creating this app and library framework, so it's nice to get to the end, Caustic Remix can use all items created in Caustic Guide, so my apps share this common data format.
For anyone who uses caustic regularly, and likes knowing they can use it at it's full potential, this thing is the essential companion app.
This week I am getting together a pretty thorough batch of videos and will post them on this thread, use cases and essential app functionality.
All the functionality in this app has probably a 0 chance of ever making it into Caustic, again why this app exists.
If you ever just wanted to load a machine from one song file to another bringing in all preset, patterns, mixer settings, effect settings, pattern and song automation, song track patterns and piano roll, that has to be worth the modest 6.99$ for this app.
I created the app because I have always loved Caustic and this community, why this site exists as well, all in my free time. So supporting my apps, Rej's app and mine and other's content packs is definitely a way to keep Caustic alive and moving forward.
The main hurdle is seeing past the one stop kitchen sink paradigm we get stuck in. Caustic Guide creates an alternate workflow for construction of tracks, using past pieces for future work and allows collaboration on a level not known with Caustic.
Case in point, MIDI is a pain, with a Caustic Guide Sound, you could just use it as a container for pattern data. When you want to import some melody or rhythm, you can just import the patterns and then add any preset you want after that. (I will eventually have overlay patterns into an existing track)
The video above takes it to the other extreme end with Groups and modular import/export which is massively powerful.
I have created 3 forums on my site that allow you to share Templates, Groups and Sounds in a forum manner not like this site. You create a new "topic" but it's actually a library item but viewed in the forum with comments.
These data sources will eventually be hooked up "in app" for registered users to download from within Caustic Guide and then create.
This is the beginning of the apps coming from Mike. This feeds the rest. Get this app. Start making a library of sounds, and sharing sounds and groups of machines on the Teotigraphix forum. Next will be the apps like Remix where you can build your songs in new ways. The fun has just started, and more is coming. Caustic is more alive than ever with these possibilities.
The next phase of recalling old files and working with them as not re opening the file 5 times two copy a couple patterns.
Nope!
a lot simpler and easier faster.
Bought it yesterday. Need to learn how to use it now

@James, don't be afraid to ask questions in the support forum.
Will benefit all, I have been working on the site but this week I am getting more videos up.

For all interested, UncleAfx uploaded a Group file yesterday, at this page.
http://www.teotigraphix.com/node/172
You can see all the information in the file(the actual .cgrp file is being parsed), you will be able to have a little sound preview guide will export if you want but this is the level of integration I am making with Guide and the items on my site.
So when you upload a Template, Group or Sound, this is what will be display before you download. It's also the meta data that is previewed in Guide itself and what you enter before you export.
Just the fact u don't have two reopen a old project 5 to 50 times two copy and paste what u want from old file. Two recreate new.
Collaboration trks much more interesting as what is accpted of a trk and what is not.
Two sum this may not be simple. But far more less time consuming once the learning curve is behind u.
Happy to see this one out! Have to get a new android device and buy it.
@Skarabee Thanks man! Don't be a stranger on my forum. :)
Sorry Mike if I leaved the boat in the last part of testing. My android tablet is broken, so I couldn't be an helping tester and didn't want to spam the beta threads.
New tablet is coming soon...
> Sorry Mike if I leaved the boat in the last part of testing
That is not what I meant, there is a Windows version as well for testing FYI.
My bad! forgot it.
I just released 1.0.22 on Play and the Windows exe is updated in the beta forum.
If you think Caustic development is dead, you are *so wrong*.
The CausticCore is still alive. Guide was just released earlier this year, and I said back then that more was coming.
Mike has been in deep development over the past couple months. Guide was just the beginning. Soon the next step in Mike's Core products will be released. Will you take the red pill, or the blue pill?
Lil Tone Matrix is coming...
Nothing little about it really. Lil Drum Machine was the warm up app, it is nothing compared to this thing.
Guide Sound data, exported and the re-imported. Preset, Mixer, Effects, Note data, pattern automation.
I know kung fu :)

Some note editing.... Doesn't scratch the surface though.
How about those times when you have 8 measures of note data and you want to hear them? Hmmmm.....
We got non sequencer play note audition...
...can't forget to mention the mute notes, velocity memory, note length memory, random selecion tool, selection stamp tool, note folding, auditioning....
Yes notes folded!
Oh yeah....and the drag and drop to copy measures...
Oh yeah, Drag and Drop measures...
That audition button is pretty handy.
Woaw, this app looks cool !

Hello Mike
In a post above you mention the Windows version for testing purposes. If i buy the Android Version could i receive the Windows Version?
I bought causic für Android but finish my Tracks in windows.
Thx
Lil Tone Matrix? I WANT!!!
WOW
i really need this in my life. would be awesome if you release this on windows platform also sir. i'm working on stem-based project so with this app it's easier to bounce stems (u know, it's a pain-killer when it comes to solo 'em-region looping 'em-exporting 'em continuously.) maybe with this i could do that custom bouncing stuff
create.
Caustic Guide?
What happened to Caustic Guide?
Can't find it on Google Play...
Took it down. If Caustic gets rebooted, there will probably be a nother app that does what Guide did except with a totally different UI that is wizard like.
Selling 1..2 a month was worth just taking it down.
@mike
Hi Mike, I hope you'll make some nice new Caustic related apps soon..
I just purchased Drum Pad Beats to support you as a developer, and to thank you for this great website.. It looks like a very nice app, but the GUI is a little too small for my 5,2" smartphone. Please keep the smaller screens in mind for your next app...
I also have an iPad and a lot of music apps but I'm glad that you and Rej develop great music apps for Android too....
There is screen scaling, I already thought about it.
Hit me up at my dev email if you can't figure it out but it's in Settings > UI > Application Screen Scale.
Lower that value a bit and see what happens.
Allright thanx, I didn't check the settings yet
That's bad news for Caustic users. Caustic Guide really opens up options and looks like a must have. Truly I don't have a total handle on it myself but definitely glad I bought it as well as drum pad beats. Painful that Mike and Rej apps are not making them rich (as far as I know). Hands down some of my favorites and definitely a big fear that you guys will eventually become discouraged.
Michael, don't give up hope, you will love whats around the corner with a couple of my apps.
Caustic Guide is not dead, just I needed to bring it back on the runway for repairs and see what the future brings.
Oh and just for others, the library format should hopefully stay the same, I am not banking on it but I really don't want to change it.
If I release it again, it will be the same name and the same product so you would get updated anyway(for those that have bought it already).
The thing is it works, I spent almost a year unit testing that library framework. Spent years writing the OSC wrappers to talk to Rej's audio engine. So Guide never got updated because it did exactly what I said it did and didn't crash.
Excellent great to hear! Thanks Mike
hey mike im just finding about this, but i just want it to ask, ain't this method the same as just making a project file with same idea of grouping modules and with the effects and everything else setup, and then just save it as a template project file for whatever genres its made for??

@Nos Well can you take a machine from an existing .caustic file and put that machine into anopther existing .caustic file?
Probably not, the essence of why I had made Caustic Guide.
Thanks for your reply a few days ago @Mike
still on board for more testing of this immense development. just going thru R.L. just acknowledging this post.
@Mike is there any way we can buy the apk off you direct? Either through PayPal or anything like that?
This would be absolutely perfect for what I have been doing on caustic for the last couple of months and save me hours of saving presents and midi files
Thanks
