Can anyone help me out with tips for a beefy acid/house kick combo? I am currently using the beatbox 909 kick preset with 2kick2 from Audio vapour but it just isn't cutting the mustard. I'm sticking with Beatbox rather than PCMsynth for now just for ease and familiarity. I've tried different combos but can't find a suitable candidate for whatever reason...lack of experience and processing skills probably. Any advice and processing tips most welcome. Cheers :-)
Beefy hard house kick.:-)
If i can find my wav files i have some synth kicks i can email over to you for your BB preset if you like....
try the trance preset, replace parts with samples you like adjust the decay and whatever pan etc. then stick a compressor on it or two adjust them and in the mixer turn down the bass and highs on all tracks then on the master turn up the bass and highs and drop the mids, and stick a compressor on it and adjust it you should have a better mix more ear room.
sometimes using two beatboxes or three in sequence works wonders on beefing up the kicks.
im just confortable with the beatbox (electribe user back in the days of hardware) the pcm once i get to learn it more and more is starting to change my perspective.
J, that would be great if you could. Much appreciated. Email is nm.kemp@yahoo.co.uk. Thanks. I've tried the trance preset but to no joy. I will try the bass and high cuts on all tracks and compressor trick. Thanks bitterdarwain. I can't use more than one beatbox on this track as my rack is full but i could always export the combined kick to one.wave. To emphasise the sound I'm after, think Leftfield's Song for Life and Space Shanty...my kick is lacking thump...really need a thump! Thanks for your advice guys...the Caustic community rocks...
P.s. when using drum samples in PCMSynth is there a way to pan single samples? For some reason I like my hats and cymbals off centre...not sure why, I just think that I'm doing something sonically to fill the spectrum...but this is why I stick to Beatbox.
Black Octopus Sound, has a free "monster kicks V1 demo" available which has a number of really nice punchy kicks...ive used them frequently either layered on top of other kicks or by themselves.
currantly there is no panning of individual samples in the PCMsynth,..yet...im hopeing this will appear at some point in a future caustic update...IMO thats a huge feature.
Just downloaded the pack, inserted MV-098 and Woooah! Much much better. Excellent and sound advice. I agree that panning of individual samples would be a huge feature too. Fingers crossed.
no problem,..there are some really good sounds in that pack.
is that pack on google play
its on the Black Octopus Sound web site....youll have to look for their free stuff..i dont recall exactly where its located on thier site.
yeah, great kicks. Thanks for the tip Danjob, already used 3 of them :D

Well i tried to put a zip of kicks up but i failed!! Lol... But''''' If you want (SOUNDS?) Go to Beat production.net They have plenty of kick wavs, every pack is Free!!! Enjoy! I recommend "Big Whites" pack... Or just make a kick on Beat Box, i usually take 2 or 3 kicks, tune one down and leave one center, mess with decay you'll get that Voomp' Voomp' Voomp' Voomp' either way.. P.S...If your using an Android or Pad! Make sure you have lots of MB. Because the packs will eat your card up.. If you don't like what you see! You can also go on GPS and get Free packs from JBlann or buy them.. I have alot of em.. My phone is packed with everything, sometimes i have to put it down, because i get Producers Block.. Lol. I have found one way to get fat kicks is to layer them. One sample should be a lower end kick with most of the punch coming in around 60-80hz, then the next sample should be a higher hitting kick around 90-120hz. I also like to add a rim shot sample to add a little click noise to the kick but this is preference. Make sure both kick samples you use are the same phase or they will cancel each other out.
and with C3 you'll have more racks anyway - so having a rack to layer sounds simply to get the 'kick drum from heaven' will be easier

Here are the drums from a dubstep track I'm working on where I have the drums layered and they hit pretty hard. I tested them out in my truck with a 10" sub and they sound really good (to me at least).

I wouldn't put my email address publicly on here....... just sayin'...
@forkboy, long press the tune button on the pcm synth for individual panning of the samples.
