Hey guys been spending late night digging with Caustic.
My query is for eg. i have loaded 5 pcm synths, now say in first machine i have created a pattern of say 4 bars in A 1, then different pattern in A2, etc now i want in same machine but after say 16 bars different preset or tone so when i select new tone in B1 then same preset is applied in A1,2,3,4,5, etc too(one which i selected in B1). So is there anyway to do what i am asking for. Yep i can load it in another machine. But if i have to use different presets in same machine? or extend beyond 5 machines?
Do i have create in the 5 machines then save it and load it and create more above it?
Sorry if this has been covered before or answered before!
Any ideas? or point me to forum if someone asked this previously!
Thanks!
Some presets load in many MB of samples. If you were to have two patterns one after another placed in a song and they used different presets, there would be a glitch in playback while the app tries to load mbs of data in a few milliseconds.
Of course I could keep all presets in memory but there are others issues about UI and creating confusion that I'd rather avoid right now.
I’m not sure I understand your question entirely but it seams like you want to switch presets in a single machine. If so here’s my answer…
It is not possible to switch presets in caustic but there will be more channels to play with in the future. Meanwhile you can use the technique Jason ‘jblann’ use, it’s a simple solution to squeeze in more sounds in the 6 available channels. He simply map the keyboard with different samples so that… lets say you get a bass sound between C1 and C3 and a lead sound between C3 and C8. Of course these sounds will share the same FX, EQ, Level and so on and you can only do this with the PCMsynth. Jason can explain this further. Have a look at his free packs, there might be something that suit you there.
@Rej ok got it! that was what i wondered might be about the hardware or something related to memory! Any possibility of getting that option or some other way in future?
Maybe how about user gets an options say to select 3 tones in one preset? user can select tone one from c1-c3, tone two from c4-c6 , etc, Just an idea!
@Pan65 yeah i understood that thing and wow that is a good idea! but still Fx would be same.

Yes this is what Pan65 was refering to, see JBlann's "Builderz" PCMSynth presets for examples of this.
