Sound out of headphones AND device with openSL ES

Hi,

I'm New in Caustic. Many thanks for this wonderful app.
I use the new Galaxy Tab S3. When I chose the openSL ES mode for low latency,
it work very good but there is still sound coming ou of the device's
speakers.... even if my headphones are really plugged. Any idea about that?

Hey deniou i have the same

Hey deniou i have the same device but didnt notice this issue mayby because my headphones isolate sounds from outside, i will investigate in this in the evening after work if its the same in my case and try to find a solution.
In the meantime you can try an app called soundabout with this app you can choose where the sound of your device is going to eg you can change between headphone jack or speakers,
Il definetily come back later and give you some advice
Until the cheers

Deniou try in windows works great but do install ASIO4all/ I have two tablets and a lot of latency i guess you will have to root them to get them to work not all will work by rooting them, but double check on the site which Tablets are compatible I did see a lot of hands up for the Nexus Tablet / I have my phone which is a Samsung S7 works great with opensl es..

In my case it works all as expected, i tried realy everything every setting and even played around with the sapa system just to see if it may cause the problem but by all seven hells i cant figure out what could be the reason on your side, have you tried to reboot your device or reinstall the app? And from a pure knowledge base im pretty sure that it is impossible that the audio api could even have an influence on where the sound comes out. Sorry that i have no better news for you this is realy strange.

@zombo66 i dont know wich tablets you have used but the tab s3 has no noticable latency when using the right api, there is no need tho switch to windows especialy if someone wants to use it on a tablet and mayby has no win machine

A lot of latency in both modes on both tablets really sucks I gave up I figured I bought the wrong tablets the first one the Samsung was given to me for free but the other one I paid about a hundred bucks I'm not going to buy no more tablets unless some suggest a good one to use I did hear bad things about the Samsung Galaxy but I could be wrong....

To be honest, if you buy a computer for 100 bucks you will not be surprised if it sucks so why should it be different with a tablet

Btw horst86 I think the question was meant towards the tablet why the tablet would suck not all just my tablets personally.

Actually, The Galaxy Tab S3

Actually, The Galaxy Tab S3 works very good. By choosing openSL ES mode in the options, there is almost no noticeable latency. It works fine for audio recordings using a Usb interface as Irig Pro (but depending on which app you use (very bad on FLM, for example)). The only thing is that (with this mode specifically) while headphones are connected, a part of the sound spectrum is sent to the bottom speakers (notice that this tablet has 4 buit-in speakers), no matter what usb midi or audio controller is connected or not. This doen't happen only on Causic. I reebooted my device several times, uninstalled and reinstalled the apps tried to correct the routing of the audio with soundAbout, nothing can solve this issue.

Not sure. I can record

Not sure. I can record without any problem on Audio Evolution Mobile (with its own USB pilot). In the Wav editor of caustic as well, but with much more latency.... but there is something strange when I recorded in caustic: as I listened to the trumpet I just recorded, before any editing, I noticed that the pitch was almost one tone below the sound I really produced. any idea about that?

The fact that you said the

The fact that you said the sound came only out of the bottom speaker tells me that there must be something wrong this is definitely untypical.to your next problem, since caustic does not support usb audio interfaces im sure you recorded via device mic, try to record your voice or something else, if its the same there could be something wrong with the mic or maybe some other things like the room your in for recording does affect the recording quality

Ok. Thanks for your reply.

Ok. Thanks for your reply.

It seems that each audio recording app dev should develop their own usb driver to allow users record audio via a USB interface without issue or latency... You're right. there's not the problem i described above with the internal mic of my Galaxy Tab. but the quality of these mics are not good enough.

I found my solution. for recording sounds, since I use a Irig audio interface, I use their own recording app which is really efficient, and then I import the wav into caustic.

Oh! I just found the vocality tool... really funny. Thanks for all!

Best regards. Denis
