Electronic Gin Tonic

A little bit of funky fun, that goes well with summer drinking :-)

It's a very, very simple track. The first part is just a 3 notes riff with minimal variations. The second part, after briefly introducing the refrain, is based on the (amusing, to me at least) idea of a jazz band where the players, instead of orderly taking their turns for the solo, all go kind of berserk at once.

All done in Caustic, straight full export, not a single bit of post-processing. It just sounded ok to me as it was.

Oh, and I know the title is misleading, there really isn't anything electronic. But it sounds cool :-)

cheers,

Aldo

Yeah, enjoyed listening to this, great acoustic sounds you got going, good drums, and would be interested to find out which Piano you are using, is it a Caustic preset? Anyway nice one

Thanks for listening :-)

Thanks for listening :-)

The piano preset is from a free Caustic pack I found on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.soundblend.acousticpianos. I also used the good ol' Panned Grand for the accompaniment in the first part.

cheers,

Aldo

First, I like the bass a lot.

First, I like the bass a lot.. Beautiful glissando, btw..

Second, I like the "breaks", when every instrument takes a pause, before starting again..

The whole thing has a nice groove.. And those breaks avoid the monotony, and re-starts the interest..

I'll take a gin tronic..

''bersrk all at once''?

''bersrk all at once''?
yeh, sounds like a New Orleans jam in that case. They had the art of everyone soloing at once down to an art without any of that modern jazz technical wank! Great stuff...

and Captain Beefheart, is VERY New Orleans inspired, and can incidentelly hear references to one of his tunes there from the Safe As Milk LP? (Maybe unintended, but maybe not?)

yeh, i like how you've coped getting a reasonably ''real'' instrument feel. Guitar style bass is not always too easy electronically, with dynamics and feel etc. But you coped well there.
yeh good to see you joining up here!
Hope you get some good from the forums!

hey!

hey!

totally unintended, I assure you. I'm quite ignorant about New Orleans jazz, or Captain Beefheart's work. always been curious to listen, but never followed through. looks like a good time to do it :-)

and yeah, I've been away quite some time from the forum. I'm using more stuff than just Caustic lately, but it's still my number one DAW. I have a lot of Caustic tracks to finish and upload, though, and will post them for sure.

cheers,

Aldo
