The Wild Heroic One

This is a song James Muir (Bipidribait) started. It was only a one-bar bassline and a beat when I took over, but that’s how most of my tracks start. James called his song “Subsynth Squeal” but the BL-synth tone I added reminded me of David Bowie’s “Heroes” and Iggy Pop’s version of “Wild One” so I blended those names together to form a new song name.

Here’s the original (and some more) Bipidribait posted http://singlecellsoftware.com/node/1690

And here's the final causticfile:

I really enjoy the approach

I really enjoy the approach other peope take with my tracks. I loved the way you took this from proto synth-metal into an 80's sound smiley

I was really surprised how

I was really surprised how easy it was and how quick I was moving with it. The track kind of told me what it wanted to be immediately so from there the work was pretty strait forward. Selecting and arranging chords, layout the beat, copy and paste, inserting melodies, modifying presets and finally mixing. I wish every song I make would come as painless as this one. Thanks for letting me play with this song.

Well, like Copyc4t said in

Well, like Copyc4t said in comments: We could be Marios, just for one day.!!!

I didn't want to listen to it at first, as I also downloaded the files and didn't want to be influenced if I tried to do something, just to discover in the end what people have made with the same starting point. But when I saw Mario, I could'nt resist...

Excellent collab here, the kind of collab I like, starting from a seed , to give a very nice and well arranged track. Thank you BipidriPan65 wink!

it was fun - I love what Pan

it was fun - I love what Pan (http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/user/1329) and Johan (http://www.singlecellsoftware.com/user/303) have done with the fragments I posted.

I'd be happy to do the same if anyone wants to post their own fragments to this forum.

I love looking at the files afterwards and just seeing how people arrange, mix etc.

Yeah! I thought of that to, I

Yeah! I thought of that to, I think I’ll post some embryos. But Skarabee has a good point about not listening to others tracks while working on the same starting track. Maybe we should add some rules for future collaborations. I’m thinking of setting a date when the tracks can be published, that way everybody would have a fair chance to finish his/her work without getting input from others. So if I would upload a starter today I would probably set the first release date to a month later to give everyone enough time. How does that sound?

that sounds cool, getting

that sounds cool, getting people to wait for everyone else before publishing will be the biggest challenge.

I loved the idea of the collaborative Caustic file site that Skarabee set up - I just think there was too much of a planned structure/too many rules and that ended up putting people off (sorry Skarabee).

This way seems easier and much less structured.

Maybe we could ask Mike if he would consider a separate forum to 'Show and Tell' for collaborative work? Although, maybe this also makes it a little too structured.

I agreed, complicated rules

I agreed, complicated rules put people off. I they don’t fully understand the rules they probably chose not to participate. But I don’t think setting a time for release should that complicated.

No worry about the lack of

No worry about the lack of succes of Caustic Sessions.  Maybe it was a bit complicated for a first attempt.  I think I have to erase all this unwanted rules. What is important, IMHO, is the effective collaborive work, and I'm to see and hear that it's finally running in another form. You can still use my submitted page to share starters, waiting  for maybe a new section in the forum. I can give autorizations to upload files is needed, just ask me by mail. The idea was to host the files on the same page without having to search in differents nodes on the forum. If this little site can help...

The idea of a dead end release date seems good and simple. Since I have not much spare time to work on Caustic these weeks, i will put some starters too.
