Hi Caustic forum!
I've made some simulations of the classic 808 drum machine with the modular machine of Caustic 3. It's not considered to be finished, althought I might never finish it anyway ;).. If you'd like you can pause the video on Youtube to see each configuration of modular machine and continue the fine tuning on your own. The sounds are ofcourse to be seen as something fun, rather than an exact copy of the 808 drum machine (which is close to impossible to achieve). I probably won't upload the patches since it's a "beta" version (which might be forever).

Hope you'll like it :)
That is fantastic! I'm literally messing about with synthesised drums now, not nearly as cool as what you've done, but the idea was to recreate some of the old 80s Roland octapad sounds, for a pet project that frankly has got way out of hand.
What I'm doing is a lot more crude that this, but gets the job done. It's basically a bunch of sub synths, and you mix between them to create your sound, the idea is to then export the sound into a beatbox kit.
I'll be uploading the caustic file soon, just needs a few more tweaks.

Oh, it would be lovely if you uploaded the caustic file to let people mess with the sounds and create some nice warped 808 kits. Just talking for myself here but I'd love to have a play!

I'm glad you liked it! :) Ofcourse I can upload the caustic file if you're interested. Including it here in this post :)
Note that the hihat is clumsy and takes three modular machines to function. Could possibly be stripped down to two machines by sending the audio back to the first machine again though ;)

Here's an old post where someone else also used the Modular to create a drum synth. Paulovksi from these forums is doing something similar. I love it when people really push the envelope of what Caustic can do

Paulovski's drum synth might actually make it into an virtual andalog drum machine app (VADM), we have talked about it.
Paul added factory kits to Drum Pad Beats and his VADM kit is actually from that 808 modular setup.
In that
Below is the actual proff of concept app where those controls are actually hooked up to all 12 Modulars!
BTW, I didn't mean to hijack the thread. It was just cool to see that paulovski was brought up doing the same awsome thing you are with the modulars and getting drumsynth sounds out of them.
Thats pretty awesome but it filled up the slots and thats not good.
~For someone like me who uses a lot of presets
It fills up the slots, but once you've created your sounds you can export them as wavs and whack them into a beatbox or pcm
