Caustic Song file (optional):
The second layer is another intermittent texture that will eventually come and go somewhat randomly.
The 8bit synth adds some character and will work well with the previous layer. Again there is an identifiable pattern and it's a good opportunity to mention another strategy: you don't want any sounds to repeat in the same manner. If one pattern repeats every 16 beats but another repeats every 5 1/2 beats, in the end it won't sound sequenced, even less after sounds are morphed or intermittently introduced. An auto - pan effect ads more movement and as the project advances it will become far less obvious.
Eventually track 3 will be a modular unit used to morph and control the first two layers.
The next two layers will be pad type drones. The first here is one obvious choice - the PadSynth. In this case the patch is primarily a deep sound but with a cool almost metallic wind overtone.
Using the multi-filter effect enhances this sound. In the band isolate mood, if you start by setting the gain fairly high and then sweeping the Freq, you will distinctly hear when that mid-range sound suddenly jumps right out. You can then adjust the gain and resonance controls to get the desired sound. In this case once I identified the mid-range using a much higher gain, I lowered it a bit. Eventually this could be automated if desired to create more tonal movement.
The layers are not yet balanced or tweaked but at this point the goal is to just find elements that will sonically fit together.
Sorry, keep pasting the text in but it will not post. I have no idea what's going on.
