Ftp server on ios - does it work?

I've recent bought an iPad and wanted to transfer over all my content (11000 files!) from Android.
I've already backed up everything to my win10 laptop and was hoping to copy everything over using Caustic's built-in FTP server.
When I launch it on my iPad I get a server IP of 0.0.0.0 every time I launch it. My Laptop won't accept this... my android devices give me some proper numbers!

Anyone got any experience either with ios ftp or any other way of getting all my stuff copied over?

Thanks

I'm using a Amdroid

I'm using an Android smartphone and an iPad.. I have no problems connection to the FTP server in Caustic.
Is your iPad connected to the internet, you can't use an ad-hoc connection..

If you want to transfer stuff to the iPad just download the Documents app by Readle (ad-hoc connection also works).. It's free and you can transfer files to the app, from there copy stuff to other apps. You can also make an internal ftp connection to Caustic..

Another option is the AudioShare app.. You can send stuff over by wifi as well...

Hi F5 thanks for replying.

Hi F5 thanks for replying.

Yes ipad is connected to the internet. I'm new to Apple products so I feel like a fish out of water. I'll try those 2 apps you mentioned when I get in from work tonight. Thank you.

Make sure "background audio"

Make sure "background audio" is enabled in Caustic setup or FTP won't work

Hi anickt

Hi anickt

I've just enabled background audio in the options but ftp is still giving me 0.0.0.0

I'm off to try Audioshare app....

Background has nothing to do

Background Audio has nothing to do with the FTP server.. It only ensures that you will hear audio from Caustic when you switch to another app...
Just reinstall the app.. I think this will fix the problem..

Also, AudioShare is a good app to have.. Sharing files between apps is nightmare on iOS. To get a file from app to the other will give you headaches. AudioShare will host all your audiofile so you can open them from other apps.. You can also route audio from another app  like Audiobus to AudioShare and record it. In my opinion it is a must-have app on iOS, just like Documents..

@Furious5 If background audio

@Furious5 If background audio is not on FTP will not work. Try it. Documents will connect to Caustic FTP server and allow access to all Caustic folders.

Well I don't know about

Well I don't know about background audio or not but after a reinstall and a reboot (and toggling background audio on and off devil) I eventually got the FTP server to give me an IP address. Great....

Now when I try and connect I get a "connection refused" message on my laptop - maybe there's some setting I need to enable?

Anyway I've instaled both the Documents app and Audioshare apps to my ipad and have succesfully copied over all files but I have no idea how to put the contant into Caustic's "presets" "samples" "skins" and "songs" folders... again any help would be much appreciated.

@Furious5 curious because I

@Furious5 curious because I’ve encountered this myself and advised several others of it who said it worked. Who knows?

@FPC To access Caustic from Documents enter the numbers shown in the Caustic FTP in a new network (I think that’s what they call it) in Documents and it should connect. You have to be on wifi

My own personal tutorial

My own personal tutorial video? Wow thank you so much!

This is exactly what I needed. I'm now copying over all my folders using the documents app with Caustic FTP set up as you described.

Fantastic, happy again.

I was really struggling when

I was really struggling when I got my first iPad 1,5 year ago, just like you. I had never used iOS before that. Moving files from one app to the other really gave me headaches, it took me while to get used to the iOS way of working.. but even now that everything is clear to me I still prefer MacOS or Android..

Caustic was the reason for me to buy an iPad, I was looking for a fast processor and low latency.. I bought a lot of other apps after that, hoping to find something that was even better.. I bought Gadget, GrooveRider, Elastic Drums etc. Caustic is still my favourite.. The workflow is so well thought out. Everything you need is there.. Making drums mono, offline timestretching, soundfont support.. only a few apps offer that, Caustic can do all of this plus a lot more..

Yeah still love Caustic. Had

Yeah still love Caustic. Had it on Android for years but I've recently defected to Cubasis and a load of Audio Unit plug-ins!
Having lots of fun with all these new toys but still love the Caustic work flow.
Thanks again for your help.
