The topic came up as to what you do when you feel musically stuck. This is one response. Just move out of the zone you're in, up the tempo, change the genre, use new sounds. I don't even know what this is ... is it one of the 2000 EDM genres? Or did I invent #2001? It isn't going to be the Mona Lisa but who cares. It shakes things up and maybe one other person will like it, too.
When You're Stuck
This is nice, I particulary like the arpeggios. I think it would even get better vith a snare in the after the breakdown, that would introduce more energy and drive to the song.
Thanks, Pan65, that is a great idea. I was hunting around for something to build it and trying things that were too complicated. I think you're right on with that suggestion. I will see how it sounds and maybe replace the SC file.

Yeah, sometimes we try too hard not realizing it's the small things that make most impact on the big picture. Personally i like songs that evolve and build up over time, but it's not that easy to do.
I'll wait to see what you do with the song. I have a particular snare sound in my mind, let's see if you come up with a similar idea.
@Pan65, I'm hoping you will return and hear the changes based on your input.
I always attempt to have a range of dynamics in a song, whether it is a constant build or just varying degrees of energy.

yeh, it's not too bad at all, and the philosophy behind it is what i would do when in need of inspirational refresherment.
''genre''wise? Personally i find genres get in the way and rob most of us of what we individually have to bring to the table, BUT it reminds me of the lighter side of genuine 90's trance before that overground lightweight pop/club shit that now parades itself as trance.
Be nice to hear a harder version. Yeh, nice work
@wombledung, Thanks for commenting! Yes, the goal wasn't genre-focused as much as just playing with new sounds, tempos, instruments. I wasn't trying to really create something in a genre, per se, but I did use a genre's general sounds to create something. I might have created something that is something brand-new, for all I know. If it has an echo of something good, I'm glad.

Yeah, this is good. Not exactly what i had in mind, but i think this is even better. Well done
@Pan65, it wasn't even what I had in mind. It ended up being a snare and clap combined, with the clap slightly advanced, with an automated LP filter that rose throughout the time it was playing. I am curious now, what you had in mind, though. Something more organic?

Nah, i was thinking about a 909 snare with some light drive added. Something in your face so to speek. Not sure if that would work though, not now when I heard what you came up with. Try if you want but I think you should keep this version.
@Pan65, I took the snare/clap from the stock Trance preset and messed with them a bit, then filtered to build. Just listened to 909 and it wouild have to be pumped a bit to get some meat into it.
