I find, if there is a piece

I find, if there is a piece of work which contains stuff i need to learn, or, better still, formulate my own way to acheive stuff that works with it, is to paste the track into your DAW, and then jam along with all your fave devices (best not get too carried away with every device you have, but rather limit yourself to a few, as you tend to get better results and more focus) like drum machines, synths etc etc etc, till you can fade out the original and are happy with whatever you'ver created.

But it really depends whether you just wanna copy someone else's work, or learn how to make your own stuff to play in a similar set if you DJ for example. So if you do just wanna copy somneone elses' creatvity then Youtube will likely have demo or tuition vids which will likely help, even if just generic tips and guides. But you can save time there just by copy/paste the original into your DJ software as the guy who wrote is has already done that work, and by the time we are any good at it, it'll be dead and gone.
But we all learn, to be fair, from folk we enjoy listening to. But if it's a big money, or professional production, then they'll have access to equipment and software most of us can't access (money etc) and usually is designed to disqualify most of the rest of us anyway. And will also likely have audio engineers and professional mastering guys. Most of which i generally bypass as an 'amateur pro'' by trying to practice as often as possible when making tracks through my P.A. unit so i can smooth out any moosh or nonsense or hideousness. The advantage being my demos sound better than the usual college band/dj demos, and make less work for audio engineers and mastering guys, and i already know they sound fine in big sysyetms as i pratic through one when i can, even if that means buying a portable generator, and taking my gear to a local park where i can get away with my smaller 1k sub unit with mid/hi and BBQ gear and deck chairs.. or find a local park thats out of th way, or give a donation to a Salvation Army hall or community hall to use space there to test stuff out. You'll see how MUCH betetr you get much faster as opposed to bedroom stuff.

Getting way off track... but that's what i get for lack of tobacco, and too much ADHD!

Main thing? hAVE LOT'S OF FUN ANYHOW AND HOWEVER IT COMES OUT! So long as you and your mates get good saturday night yeeharrr fun out of it. And remember a sense of humour doesn't hurt.
