REJSENDE

Caustic Song file (optional):

REJSENDE

this is made up of three test songs I had going through Alphas 2&3 and Beta 1&2. It occurred to me that they might work together with some compromises in tempo and key. So in the end, it was about testing the 'copying and pasting' between songs in Caustic 3 and transposing. (Caustic 3 performed flawlessly)

plhawkey's Samp Hold modular preset is what really was the glue to the whole thing and jblann1's  PKITDEMO3 PCM preset really took the last part to a higher level.

the Horn preset is from ZVON's marching band horn set detuned a bit.

REJSENDE is the Danish word for 'travelers' and you'll notice Rej's name is in there. I like titles that work on a couple of level so: all of us here, we are the travelers, exploring the possible worlds that Rej made. And actually that kind of sounds like a Philip K. Dick book title so it fits with what I have been doing.

This only has 13 Machines in it.

i hear Skarabee is up to 15!wink

Anther Dick's trace. Very nice travel! Love the drum part in the middle and the modular sequence. Welcome aboard in Caustic 3.

edit: Made a little trip in the future with your track, and came back with Caustic 4, that's why I have 15 tracks....wink

That was a pleasant ride,

That was a pleasant ride, good sounds and progress. I also like your titles a lot, you always flirt with different languages and double meanings.

You can split the word “Rejsende” in two ways, “Rej sende” means “Rej did send”. I like that, could mean that Rej sent us all on a journey in to the sonic universe he created.smiley

On the other hand “Rejs ende” doesn’t sound quite that good cause that would translate “the end of Rej”.

Nice track and thanks for the caustic file...

really like this track,...but im not in love with that horn sound at the end....i usually love everything you do,  so i think a little criticism on occasion instead of the typical "wow cool track"  wont make me seem like i dont care.  sorry..im in an odd moodsurprise

maybe when you post a new

maybe when you post a new tune make it clear you want the good and the bad? Seems like a sound idea, I'm cool with that, will use it from my next upload smiley

Nope that's OK and I really appreciate honesty over almost anything else in the world. I'd like to think I am almost egoless about most things and I really respect everyone here anyway .... so don't worry i have thick skin. IThat said;  don't exactly like the horn either and maybe de tuning it had the opposite effect....but it seemed like that's what it needed, somehow it needed to be joyful or celebratory at the end and that was the only way I could figure to do it. Caustic is my Sound Lab & I try to experiment and make it a puzzle and step up to the challenge. I hear everyone here doing that and and it's really inspiring to me. But you know sometimes a lab full of bunsen burners and chemicals is going to blow up on you... no matter what you do .smiley

Nice track..... yeah my Pkit3 Demo kit sounds and mixes well in there, I'm suprised because that kit was put together rather quickly..... I'm working on about 7 kits right now, and I hope to have a demo up maybe as soon as tonight but no promises.....

Another Wardini Classic cool

same here...i would like a

same here...i would like a little honest criticism...but its a dicy thing....you dont want to single out the one thing the artist likes about thier track and bash it on the ground like it was a waste of time...(so & so spent the last 15 hours trying to get that horrible base sound just right..and i turn around and destroy it in three words.)  it's cruel no matter how you look at it...lol. who wants to be that guy?

well no one wants to be that guy but I think criticism can sometimes really help someone, we'd all like to be that helpful guy.

maybe What we need is a phrase so you'd  know it was ok

I am fine with serious and brutal critique of this piece.

there is this thing in Buddhism where you strive to no longer seek approval .

“Criticism is something you can easily avoid by saying nothing, doing nothing, being nothing” ~Aristotle

Foulcalt had brought this up a while a go  but I couldn't find his post.

Whatever

we are all pretty good people here, I doubt it would get out of hand.

This was a fun track. Yeah

This was a fun track. Yeah the horn through me off a bit too but it isn't terrible. What if you reverbed and delayed it a bit to space it out and put it more behind the mix instead of a lead sound? I really dig the delayed left biased bassline. How did you get that effect?

very nice track, I love the progressive rock feel... And yes, the 'horn' sound is a bit out of place here, an electric guitar solo would be nice...

Do you mean the repeated pattern. Down load the file for Caustic 3 and flip the first modular . I took plhawkey's Samp Hold preset and spilt the signal added a delay to one side.

Sweet!  That's a cool trick.

Sweet!  That's a cool trick.  I still haven't grasped the modsynth yet even though it is my favorite new machine.  Thanks!

I don't think I will ever grasp it completely but having the MODULAR on a tablet so i can endlessly experiment has been the most fun i have had for a very long time. I found a lot of books on synth programing which help as much as looking at what people here have done. It seem like the books help to' think' in the right way.

The better ones seem to be old out of print textbooks for synthesizer classes. And actually I AM STILL LOOKING FOR MORE GOOD MODULAR Synth BOOKS!!

Devarah's 'the complete guide to synthesizers'

Welsh's Synthesizer Cookbook: Synthesizer Programming, Sound Analysis, and Universal Patch Book

The Synthesizer 2nd edition by Roland Corp.(a 4 book collection)
