The onscreen keyboard, and the laptop keyboard show me one and bit octaves of C major, and I can press the octave up and down buttons to pan the keyboard an octave up or down (although for some reason PGUP and PGDN do not work).
How though do I pan the keyboard mapping half an octave up so that I can play in A minor, or any other key for that matter? With the keyboard starting at C I only have half an octave of A minor available, which isn't much use.
Ideally I'd like to be able to pan the keyboard to any starting note I like so that I can play in any mode.
After more experimentation I see how it works. PGUP and PGDN remap the laptop keys to different octaves but do not scroll the on screen keyboard.
Personally I have two issues with this. Firstly you hve to remap the keys using PGUP and PGDN but then also scroll the on screen keyboard using the mouse in order to see what you've done, which is awkward. And secondly since you can only remap a whole octave at a time a key like A minor is always split across two rows of the keyboard which is also awkward.
I think that just being able to scroll the on screen keyboard to start at any note and have the physical keyboard mapping following automatically would be much easier.
Settings: song: scale, change to A minor ... BOOM. Or leave it in A chromatic. Or leave it in C chromatic and just cope. It all works.
Just play the white keys. That's C Major or A Minor...
