The Recording Revolution - 5 Min Tips

Graham over at the Recording Revolution did 3 3-month series of 5 Min Tip videos, for a total of 93 Videos, over 7 hours of free stuff.....

http://www.youtube.com/user/recordingrevolution/videos?flow=grid&view=1

1 & 2 are good, 3 kind of repeats some stuff, but has a few newer tips.

These are live musicians - band type of tips, but there is still a lot of good info on mixing, effects, and vocals that can be used. I own most all of his pay-or videos except for the room treatment one, mainly because I like the teaching style....

Hope This Helps! cool

LIke that he is adamant in

LIke that he is adamant in pointing out that less is more and that you should stop chasing after "the latest and greatest" in software.

Using the standard compresoors and effects that comes with your DAW ( or in this case Caustic ) and you will get more or less the same result in the end.

Being more a question of learning to use your ears and judgment...

This is the time the night and the year

Exactly my mission here!

Exactly my mission here! Ive been there, done that before....... You can achieve the same quality of sound and sonic bliss right here, without emptying your life savings for hardware and software to do tye same thing..... I had to learn that lesson myself, so I can help spare you guys from falling into the same trap (GAS -- Gear Aquisition Syndrome lol)

I like that term GAS, i am

I like that term GAS, i am currently experiencing this syndrome. My excuse is that learning ableton fully would give me a broader perspective on how i look at and use caustic.  Then i came across NI Massive, and ive been sick with the syndrome since.
Any suggestions Jason?

J, I bought an Ableton Push which is like a cross between an MPC and a Launchpad.

That's a nifty idea of a controller..... gives you a different and unique perspective on your music creations.... if you start making grooves with that into Caustic, I would like to see video of that,  how you would use it... if your latency allows for it of course...cool

Yeah its super fun to use!

Yeah its super fun to use!  The velocity sensitive pads are amazing along with the pitch bend strip on the side.  You can build a decent sounding track in about an hour once you get proficient with it.  I think I might ditch my keystaion 49 as this has 64 keys/pads in a much smaller footprint.  It can pretty much do anything I need a midi controller to do.

It does output standard midi and has a user mode which I can program.  I need to pull the trigger on a midi cable for my device so I can try it with Caustic.  I will let you know how it goes.
