Ok, decided to take a little break from my project for one night, and for some strange reason -- because I'm not really a 4-to-the-floor fan, but I decided to try it out, using ONLY BB and SS and a BL.
Here it is, enjoy and mutilate to your imagination's intent.
a caustic song to play with...

Trying to use dropbox, hope the link works. I was very bored so downloaded and started playing with the track but I think I got way off track. Had fun though.
303 love 3rd and final take. And the dropbox thing seems to work. I changed a few things, also tried to add a 'trick'. Think I like this one, love the big sounding bassdrums, (909kick), thanks. Fun game.

BTW volume settings may be a bit off because I was using cheap headphones (909 should be middle/12o'clock, 808 bit louder than middle/13)
Nice update. I like how you make the bassline "sing" At first I thought you were using a sample of sorts but you used the "slide" very nicely...
There outta be a section in the forum to do things like this..... kind of song starters, let everyone play with it and see what we all come up with, and how different it sounds.....
Thanks. Changed one minor detail as Tk3plus yesterday and then I decided to leave it alone. Had been considering adding to it, but I think the 'false ending' is more fun (in line with the 'false breaks').
Was really flipping over the 4 on the floor and trying to sabotage it, or 'how to try and make people trip over on the dancefloor' (anti-dance yay) Using fuzzy distortion to beef up the 909 is probably something I'll use again, you've given me a very good hint with that. I'm very pleased with how the echo turned out while switching from the 909 beatkit to the 808.
Will be trying more 303 acid tracks in the future, already have a few patterns to use in a 80 BPM track. Trying to make them more unconventional than the usual acid house. And maybe the roots reggea starter is up for 'mutilation' next time.
Would also love to see more interpretations/mutilations of the original starter. Anyone?
