i got the iOS beta of 3.0 and only way to get the .caustic files off is by iTunes filesharing. The laptop is broke so I cannot extract stuff as yet..the only things I can do is open others projects and export finished work to another iOS app called Audioshare which then can email or soundcloud / Dropbox the audio tracks only
Hey James, have you ever tried changing the bpm while recording in song mode? Would be awesome if we could slow or speed up the techno stuff subtly in the mixdown!! And of course we need mute button on/ off recordable too
caustic is amazing for performance based work I think!!!
You can't change bpm mid track - manually adjust the bpm while a track is playing and you'll see why. Especially if you have active delay FX.
Rej has been asked a number of times and the answer is always the same, the CPU load is massive. Would probably cripple a desktop too.
I know someone who has created a track with multiple tempos (Pan65) but he did that in an extremely creative but complex way by using the piano roll, he built an excel model to tell him where to place each note.
Additionally as most FX and Lfos are tied to the tempo in Caustic this must limit their use at the point your track goes off grid.
Caustic Live would be the performance tool, imo. Caustic is the studio app, Mike's Caustic Core ideas will let people take Caustic into different settings, interfaces etc.
No but Mike is edging closer to having some stuff to share. He shared an Android Bassline app using the Caustic Core recently and uploads screen shots and videos of his WiP.
Wow James, couldn't have said it better myself. The love of Caustic, yeah you could ask Rej 2 years ago with our first conversation, that about sums it up.
I just wrote in another thread that Caustic Live is on hold until Rej releases his app and can take a breather. I decided to stop dev until I have all the OSC messages for Caustic 3. Rej and I have talked about this and really, there is no hurry from me.
But yeah, Caustic Live is being built for live performance and live sequencing. I think 2014 will be a really good year for it. I can't see it not being eaten up by Caustic lovers, its another way to create songs, different from the linear sequencing, which sometimes I have a hard time with, I am more of a performer, thus Caustic Live is performance based.
I mean, it really already works, just don't want to finish the design until I have integrated song/pattern automation which is really the main thing I am waiting for with implementation of OSC. Rej just needs to focus on his busy life until he can spare a moment.
Thats a nifty little groove you made there....
Cool stuff - love the drums and would love to have a poke at the Caustic file on this one

Thanks! That gives me an idea:)
yeah, I tried changing the speed, very bad results!!!
Caustic live? Is it out on android yet?

Ok, sorry I thought caustic live was a version of caustic specifically for live stuff, not seperate apps..
...well you're kind of right - the Caustic Core is the sound engine that powers Caustic. Caustic and the Caustic Core are Rej's through and through.
Caustic Live is one of a series of planned apps/implementations that Mike is designing that interact with the Caustic Core.
I think Caustic Live was born out of Mike's combined love of Caustic and hardware Grooveboxes.

Ok gotcha
sooner I get an android device the better, I look forward to supporting and using these breakthrough apps!
