Oops, sorry! I thought that if I avoided the new machine and any new features, that the file would be fully compatible with C3.0, I'll redo it if needed.
I've noticed if you tune the KSSynth low enough it locks up, same with certain BeatBox presets. Some random other things... Like size and grid buttons doing nothing. Once my record button flashed rapidly... But none of these have been serious enough to warrant an uninstall.
I had a beatbox that randomly played itself. A subsynth whose controls locked regardless of closing and reopening the project. And a handful of lockups.
Holy crap nice pocket finding! Sounds great. Now I was thinking about what ZeroP was saying about the next community jam. Using beta 3.1 would be awesome because you could pipe in other players tracks in the machine input of the modular. That would be very interesting.
We had a type of synergy going on in the last jam that involved use of the Vocoder on the drum track... Now this. I think this is going to ramp up the complexity of mixing just as much as it will provide the first 14 people with completely new ideas and methods. Hell, one person could use several other tracks with their Modsynth. I just hope this beast doesn't make some of us chase our tails in circles...
Thanks guys... Was a bit nervous... And yes, it also reminded me of Atari. Everyone has done such a great job so I tried to make sure I didn't take anything from anyone.
Ok, I'm on it...... time to put some sour cream and cheese on this hot potato.... Holy crap Pan65! You seriously have your work cut out for you man, this one is VERY animated, and needs some complex balancing....But this is a groovy one, I like it..... I'll kick this back soon, I hope.
Yeah I've been following the development of this track and it keep getting more cacophonic with every entry ;D. This will be a great challenge for me and I will have to use more automation than I used to. Looking forward to sink my teeth into to this and hope I can live up to the expectations ;)
You will be using ALOT of automation....... if you saw what I had to do with CW1..... oh man, that was crazy hard challenge, but it was fun at the same time.
I don't envy you trying to make sense of this monster Pan65 but it certainly will be a good challenge. Trust your instincts I say and to hell with expectations.
Ok, I kept it laid back a bit, because there is already alot of musical elements, I went all vintage Phil Collins and dropped in a PocketKit.
I'm gonna play with this and "master" it myself, but I won't post it until Pan65 works his magic first. This is going to be a tremendous challenge..... If I may offer some hints.... there is ALOT of low end that needs controlled.
Rej, I've noticed some quirks looking at components throughout the app, while working on my part (you know I jump around screens very quickly and often constantly looking at things and assessing everything right)
1. Meters are stuck at the end of the song, instead of dropping to bottom.
2. MFG's Modular is showing voltage in the Mixer, but not in the synth, so I hooked up the OscScope to see if there were any ULF, but it didn't show any, and the machine's meter is not lit up. He is using BitCrusher, which sometimes seems to feedback something even when no noticeable signal is passing through it. So I Solo'd it and graphed out the output from the channel and this is what I saw:
So there is negative voltage present..... I think I've seen it before back in 2.1 with another one of my tracks before, where it caused a feedback loop.
This anomaly (looks like signal level on channels meter holding at approx -4db ouch for main mix) may have an adverse affect on the entire mix, because I hear things happening that is causing clipping on the main mix -- So Pan65, watch this channel closely and Mute it out, to hear the difference, when you get close to a clean mix that you like.... you may need to automate something in the BitCrusher to control the voltage error in the mix, so his part can come thru nicely. QuickFix recommended: kill the LowEQ on the mixer when his part is not active in the song.... NOTE: this is not MFG's fault or error, just to be clear
3. Main Reverb shows approx +4db on left channel than right..... hmmmm
4. Caustic 3.0 for Windows crashed and dropped to desktop twice while previewing my contribution before submission.
Anyways, Pan65, this hot potato is now handed to you my friend.
Yeah I noticed that issue but I will handle it for sure. So I'm on it but it will take a while to figure out where I want to take it. Meanwhile, good work everybody.
Pan, you are without a doubt one of my all time Caustic heroes, you've been a constant, positive presence since I first joined the forums in C2.0 days.
I saw it when I did it, but, I couldn't bring it down without automation on the bitcrunch itself. I actually lowered it from where I actually wanted it to be. Feel free to adjust it as needed. :-)
I know it wasn't anything you did wrong..... the BitCrusher is still quirky, depending on what its connected to I think.... When I investigated and graphed it out, I was reminded of when it happened to me nearly two years ago, when some FX were yielding DC offset issues.
In your case, killing the LowEQ removes the voltage from the mix, and can make Pan65's job so much easier.....
Your animation in your submission was killer, awesome work BTW
Now you've gone too far. Potato salad. With twice-baked fries and potato vodka. Don't forget the mashed potatoes. Some may prefer sweet potato fries, some may prefer hash browns, but at the end of the day, it's just damn potatoes.
That's a cool idea. I'm in.

Looks like you exported that file out of the beta. At least that's what Caustic told me on my phone when I tried unsuccessfully to open it.
Are we using the beta version from here on out?

I kinda want to use the beta for the next CCWJ. I can deal with sporadic instability. Who's in?

I'm playing with a track that has a modulator dumped to a modulator. There's enough lfos and panners to make your head spin.
Here is my update.... thanks for the opportunity.

Wow, I didnt think the dynamics of the song could bend any more. Well done MFG!
Okay MFG, that made me what to play an Atari 2600 again. Cool addition to the track man.
