'Fuzzy Nation' - new track

Caustic Song file (optional):

Very electronic, a busy, and hopefully intense sound built on a lot of distorted and/or bitcrushed drums over 4 beatboxes. I've just finished a book called 'Fuzzy Nation' by John Scalzi, I needed a title and this track does sound awfully fuzzy so it stuck.

Also starring, in no particular order;

2 Modulars

One PCM Synth

One Vocoder, mainly as an FX send

2 FM Synths in a 303 type role.

One Organ synth, heavily distorted (there's a bit of a theme here, I know)

One Subsynth

I had a Bitcrusher as an insert FX in the Mastering Section but to be honest that felt like overload. File's up for anyone to poke around at smiley

Oh, and my favourite cheap trick when I'm not sure about recording a lot of automation - Phasers and/or Autowahs on a low speed setting.

Iove the gated sounding

Iove the gated sounding staccato lines, especially around 55 and 125, funky. Some intricate pattern editing perchance? ;-) And that thick line around 2.50 followed by the question and answer from the synths before the kick drum brings it all back. Its got a real positive musical vibe this track, I like

Thanks  It's simpler than

Thanks smiley It's simpler than that on this one - I used 32nds instead of 16ths as the note length in some patterns. I noticed Mike, the Caustic web dev using them in some tracks and realised it was a really powerful trick.

Thanks Nishit

Thanks Nishit smiley

I tried to get a bit of a drone going in there too with the fuzzed organ, layered with the subsynth and vocoder (and a PCM synth right at the end). I may build a different track around that element, remove the crazy drums and synths, and try something a bit more hypnotic indecision

Thanks Dan. I really enjoyed

Thanks Dan. I really enjoyed using the FM Synth in place of the Bassline - I used the same preset twice, it's a tweaked version of one of the stock ones in C3.

I'd recommend grabbing it from the file, makes a great lead imo.

Interesting technique, I'd

Interesting technique, I'd have also thought that was pattern automation creating the gated effect. I guess as long as the note's attack time is short enough, you can achieve the same result with 32nds. Nice track!
