Just an update, my track should be finished today; I tried to do something with automation I hadn't quite achieved before, but I think it's working here. This is not an easy song to build on because it's bursting at the seams with cool modular sounds, but it didn't seem very cohesive to me (probably the result of 15 people who have their own art passing it around). I'm trying to make a modular track that offers a rhythmic counterpoint to the beatboxes, while matching the musical tones of the modulars, blah blah blah nerdy nerdy...
No, I haven't! Unfortunately, I'm still trying to get my point across in the community jam with automation...I think my modular is a dud, man...couple more hours should do it. Next break I take, I'll spin 1998 to clear my ear's palate, and thank you for joining us -- your shit never fails to shine, brother!
Well, I thought I uploaded this two hours ago, but I clearly did not...
I do not envy k5grind's job corralling this one; not after my long knob twisting day. It's not everything I wanted, but it was a wonderful lesson. Just not being able to touch machines other than the one you're working on is such an illuminating handicap...anyway, I'm deleriously tired and going to bed.
It is exciting to hear each addition and see how this evolves. Every time I learn more through each of their contributions and the opportunity to participate in this rondame full of joy. I look forward to the contribution of each and listen to the growth of this work
I'm guilty of harvesting all the collaboration jam presets used,as well as in any song files people post. I also love how you only need to download the . Caustic file and you can play whatever the creator can play. It makes for larger files, sure, but I'll take that over missing one or two obscure samples because a file points to them. So not only do we collaborate via songs, but in synth structure, etc.
so... I am working on my part for this modular monstrosity, and the stray cat my downstairs neighbor was dumb enough to feed is meowing along to HerveBs part... Automations are more difficult when you are laughing. Just thought I would share. (should have my part done by tomorrow)
My noise making is complete. NEXT! I am very excited to see how this comes out, mix down on our modular monstrosity is really going to be crucial, methinks.
Wow I just peeked at this thread, and these CW Collab projects have really taken a life of their own, this groove is well orchestrated so far.... well done everyone. I am impressed
I was having the same battle, my quasivocoder idea first popped up around the fourth or fifth turn, and got discarded/resurrected multiple times before it came to me. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with though, I am excited that we are so close to done.
I like the "yeah boy" bit, it has grown on me. =P that being said, I think a remix of this may be in my somewhat distant future, so I could certainly cope with it being changed.
The only thing about the 'yea boy' sample is that it sounds like it's from Public Enemy, which we don't have the right to use if we ever want to try and market these things.
But like you said, a remix would be the simple fix.
I'm indifferent on the yeah boi I like it but if it's easier to change it I'm not opposed :)
I'm really digging this track, when it's done it's gonna be my ringtone for sure.
Latest update was cool, it caught me by surprise but as I got down to really hearing it had plenty of soul, nice work :)
At the fundemental level everything is frequency, music truly is life :)
I am glad that the wall of noise I added seems to be going over well, just seemed like the four amazing rhythm sections deserved some attention, a few modules and a little distortion later... I just can't wait to see how it all gets handled in the mixdown, because this track is amazing, everyone really has done some awesome work.
I have an idea of what to replace the Yeah Boi sample with... I'm probably going to post it later just to see what you all think. Don't take it seriously.
Well, here is my contribution. I kept imagining a vast machine in a rainstorm so I emphasized that the least subtle way I could think of. Replaced the yeah boy too.
Best of luck to you on the M&M there, buddy! There's a hell of a track in there just waiting to be carved out! Can I go ahead and sign up for a similar slot in the next collab?
lol!

Herve? Whatchya got cooking? I can't wait, because I'm still using variations of the last Modular preset you brought to a collaboration (Breaker RV).

I stole several presets from this jam, myself. It's amazing what people think to do with it, that never occurred to me!

Use a Beatbox and soak this thing with 8 samples from that "Aiva" sample pack!
Or not.

I'm concerned that if we setup Collab #5 before this one is finished, the focus will shift away from this to the new one.
Unless, I set it up, just to get the line-up in place, but with a provision that we don't start it until this one is done.
You all cool with that?
