Just collecting your thoughts on what the rules should be for this sub.
What kind of content goes vs Show and tell?
Is this sub only for "hooking up" for collabs? Should the final results still be posted in Show 'n Tell or here?
Any other thoughts.
I'll remove this post and replace it with a Rules post when things settle on agreement.
Firstly I think its a brilliant idea to have a dedicated collab forum
Personally I'd say keep this entirely separate from Show & Tell so my vote is to post results here. There's already a lot of activity in S&T and this would be a good way of reducing that a bit.
Another suggestion from me would be to have this as one of the main forums rather than a sub of S&T, although I can understand the logic of it being a sub. Its so simple and fun to collaborate with Caustic and I just think this is something really worth promoting.

Personally I think the end product of a collab should be posted in the main Show&Tell as long as it is pure caustic. IMO this forum should be about announces and discussions between collaborating parts, and swapping files back and forth of course.
That's pretty much how I see it too but I'm happy to be overriden by the majority if that's the consensus.
+1 for the new forum being the collab process, the final product showed in the show and tell forum. This could also open up the possibility for yet another sub for WIP stuff.
I like the idea of moving collaborations here, and posting the final product in the 'show & tell' forum too.
Thanks for setting this up Rej.
If you want sub-categories, how about:
1) Community Jams (where 15 people work on tracks together)
2) Custom Collaborations (where any other number of people work on tracks together)

+1 w/Pan & Rej's opinion!

No, I'm not looking to split it up further, we'll see how this goes for a while.
I'll make sure the latest Community Jam is stickied at the top, but I think the other ones can go into archives. You can always link previous jams in the current thread if you like.
So how about this, this sub is for:
Proposing collaborations, hooking up, posting work-in-progress tracks and for general discussion about collaboration. Final result should go into Show and Tell with a link to the thread here that spawned it.
I just ask one thing with this forum, please be responsible with your .caustic file uploads. The server has feelings and a bunch of things thrown at it is going to make it very upset down the line.
Mike
Hey Mike
What happens with a file if you remove all references to it? Does it remain on the server or does it get deleted?
No, unfortunately its not that smart.
Although in my not so spare time it "would" be possible to write a server script that ran through all the caustic fields on all post nodes, generate a list. From that list I would do a comparison on the actual disk contents. Find the none referenced files and move them somewhere to be archived off the server.
But that is when my unicorn is older than the toddler it is now.
Mike
That'll work great!

Are you saying you want us to stop uploading each iteration of the .caustic file during the development process?
Google Play! | Facebook | YouTube!
No, I am saying that a forum was just created for collaboration, thus there is a huge possibility other things get started that are different then the community jams.
Willy nilly uploading large caustic files adds up, so that is what I am talking about. Anything that has specific rules like your operations are completely fine.
Mike
Should I post the final links for the previous Community Jams in the Show & Tell, or do you want me to do this only for new collaborations?

it's up to you... I would say wait till the next one because Show and tell works best for new releases.
Understood.

Can we extend this forum to be for Caustic collabs and community challenges?
Please?

I'm wondering if we should have a sub-forum for completed collaborations, in the collaborations forum. Then individuals who want to show off there own work and do so in the 'Show & Tell' forum, and users who want to see what collaborations are active and which ones are finished can do so more easily in the Collaboration forum.
Thoughts?

Could we have a 'yes/no' column in the Collab forum for the simple purpose of indicating if a collaboration is complete? The person who did the original post would have the ability to toggle this.

I agree with this. Also still think the collab forum should be a main forum, not just a sub of s&t.

Good idea too

Maybe an addition active topic column on the right side of the web page for 'Collaboration Topics'?

Would remixes come through collab? Or advertise in show in tell or vice versa? Im New to all this so please forgive me if I ask stupid questions
Show & Tell I think should be a forum, simply, to "show" Post a song you made with caustic and you "tell" with that how the track was made id est Any tricks used, special self-made presets , tips for duplicating certain techniques used so others can use said techniques in their projects etc. Collab talk is something that many users, including myself, want to have but this forum isn't realy the right place for such conversation. I agree with a previous post that a forum subject specifically for collaboration talks would be really helpful (not to mention a handy way to have a sort of "social network" that unifys more & more caustic Warriors.) Just my 2 cents ☺
